Has anyone ever claimed a rental car fee

I rented a car when I was looking to buy another one. Can I deduct the fees because I used that car for work more than half the time

if you're paid as an employee (w-2) no employee business (car) expenses are deductible on your federal return but some states may allow a deduction.  if you are an independent contractor, the rental costs would be deductible based on the % used for work (work mileage to total mileage). I think this is a gray area for deductibility if used solely to look for a replacement vehicle.

Yes because I used it mainly for work and the personal part is for me to look for another vehicle. My job requires alot of driving and I don't have a company vehicle so that's where I'm confused
