Son gives $300 a month for expenses. Income or cost sharing? If income can reduce due to expenses?

Son has access to most of our house.  Uses toiletries, paper products, utilities, washer and dryer, refrigerator, and eats 1-2 meals from our food.  It is just my husband, myself, and our son living in our house.

Cost sharing. You are not renting for profit and he is just chipping in for expenses.
