I incorrectly entered the sale of my home as business property... now I cannot delete it. Every time I try to go in and edit it the screen just goes back to my income summary page... I have tried deleting the forms among many other things that have been recommended in these threads, but still no luck. How do I fix this??

How to edit or delete sale of business property (Form 4797)?

Thank you- I have done this, but the only option in that list of properties is called 'Copy 1' and is just blank when I go in to edit it. If I delete it, nothing changes and the income from the gain still remains on the summary of my return... It really appears to be a glitch as far as I can tell because none of the suggestions I am able to find online seem to lead to any solutions here...
You may be forced to clear your return.
As long as you haven't submitted payment, deducted the TurboTax fee from your refund, or registered, you can erase your return and start from scratch in TurboTax Online.
I have the same issue as the other user, I cannot delete the Sale of Business Property form or the section, even using the customary instructions given. Also, UNFORTUNATELY, I cannot clear and start over since I already when through the 'payment' process - my turbotax is free. So, I WANT to start over, but cannot, and I can't seem to delete the form. Any pro tips?
doesnt work..you have 1 job
You will need to delete the rental of the business property first before you can delete the sale of it. Once you delete the rental aspect, it will automatically delete the sale of it.
Excellent! I tried for weeks to figure this out. Worked immediately! THANK YOU!!!!
Go to the asset worksheet and delete the date of sale. I had the same problem and was looking at several replies and found this answer in an old reply and it worked for me!
I went into the rental income section and deleted the part where I indicated that I sold the home. And that worked. I'm still struggling with the military extension of the capital gains tax though. Ugh.

Thank you so much, deleted the date and sale and that fixed my problem. Thank again for sharing!!
