The new structure may be considered an improvement to the existing rental property. As such, it would be classified in the same category as the rental property. If the house is single-family residence, then you would use that category for the new shed/carport.

Bought a used shed for $200.  It is located on property where I have a rental house.  Paid $300 to move it.  Built a ramp for $75.  Is the $575 an expense or an improvement/capital?  Thanks
