Asking for renter's SSN for my rental income. I've never had to supply before.

I don't have my ex-renter's ssn and he was not my employer as it is also asking for an ein.

You must be reporting the income as if you got a 1099Misc from the tenant.  Delete that and answer that no 1099Misc were received and you can then enter just the rent amount paid to you.
