I received an e mail telling me that my 2021 Turbo Tax download is ready. I have a license code. I logged into TT and went to downloads. The last down load shows 2019. I used TT for 2020 and it isn't shown nor is my 2021 download. I have tried using the help but the computer does not have the information I need. The instructions do not take my problem into consideration. So, where is my 2021 download and how do I get to it. I am using windows 10.

I have finished completing my 2019 tax return.  Because I am in a qualified disaster area (Hurricane Michael), my 1099-R distribution for 2019 can not be completed and Turbo Tax can not complete my return and file because of a recent law passed by congress.

Do I need to file an extension?  How long until this is resolved?

TurboTax does ask a question about whether the distribution was a Qualified Disaster Distribution. If that is what you mean by your question, then you can continue with your tax return.

If you would like to file an extension, you can, of course, do that as well.

I received the message that I cannot file yet due to new laws passed by Congress because I received a qualified disaster distribution and that Turbo Tax will tell me when to file.

Does that mean i need to file an extension and wait for more information on this newly passed law? Do I need pay what I owe in taxes?

thank you

Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.  Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.

Go to this IRS website for federal tax refund FAQ's - https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions

Why is my refund different than the amount on the tax return I filed? (updated 2/5/2021)

All or part of your refund, including any amount for the Recovery Rebate Credit, may have been used (offset) to pay off past-due federal tax, state income tax, state unemployment compensation debts, child support, spousal support, or other federal nontax debts, such as student loans. To find out if you may have an offset or if you have questions about an offset, contact the agency to which you owe the debt.

We also may have changed your refund amount because we made changes to your tax return. This may include corrections to any incorrect Recovery Rebate Credit amount. You’ll get a notice explaining the changes. Where’s My Refund? will reflect the reasons for the refund offset when it relates to a change in your tax return.

Tax Topic 203, Refund Offsets for Unpaid Child Support, Certain Federal and State Debts, and Unemployment Compensation Debts has more information about refund offsets.

My taxes should that I was to pay $227.00 and I scheduled that to be paid April1,2021 After I filed the IRS corrected my return to reflect not paying taxes on unemployement income, so now they owe me $621.00! The problem is they took the $227 out on April 1st. When can I expect that to be returned with the $621.?

I did not receive the first economic impact payment as it was based on my 2018 return rather than 2019 return. I mistakenly did not indicate that I had not received the first payment on line 30 of Form 1040 and subsequently filed the return. I looked at Form 1040-X and there doesn't seem to be a place to make the correction. How can I recover this first payment?

Yes, you are correct that an amended return should be filed to claim the credit.

TurboTax will walk you through how to include the missing stimulus payment in your return. The Recovery Rebate Credit will appear on Form 1040-X, Line 7 Column B, as a change from the originally filed amount in  Line 7, Column A.

@Matt2424  Well the different is 1400.  Did you already get all the 3rd stimulus checks for everyone listed in  your return?  Or did you add another dependent?   Check 1040 line 30 for it.

February 12, 2022

T didn't get the $1400 they claim they sent me.

Will Turbo tax file and extension of my 2021 taxes to claim Recovery Rebate Credit?

February 12, 2022

Hello where is that live agent.

February 12, 2022

Thanks but I looked at my 1040-SR that Turbo filed and YES they added the $1400 on line 30. Thanks so much Bye
