Question

Requesting Refunds

Reposting an old question that pops up every year.

TurboTax deducted $35 as a fee for getting my refund up to 5 days early, however I don't remember selecting this as an option. I noticed they very cleverly hid this option under a different order id, one which is not recognized on their own platform when trying to request a refund. I've tried to find any sort of support desk or email to send the issue to a customer service rep but there doesn't appear to be anything listed on their site. I am unable to speak over the phone so email or typed communication is the only method of contact.

Is there any method of contacting TurboTax that isn't A. Waiting in a phone call queue or B. Going in a loop to their support page which just ends showing you a a bunch of similar comments from other users who get responses to go back to the support page (endless loop)?

Customers can chat directly, request a call-back, or set up a screen-sharing session (where the customer sees the expert via one-way video, but the expert only sees the TurboTax screen).

If you have only been trying to use the standard "Order History" or automated chatbot loops, you should try submitting a ticket through the direct backend form.

  • The Route: Navigate directly to the official Intuit TurboTax Refund Request Form.
  • The Strategy: When filling out the form, do not use the "hidden" order ID that the platform is rejecting. Instead, use your primary TurboTax Software Order ID or sign in directly via your Intuit Account. In the typed description field, explicitly state that you are requesting a refund for an unauthorized $35 ancillary fee that was bound to your primary return under a separate, unrecognized billing code.

No, this doesn't work. It was deducted using a different order number, one that came through days later & isn't tied to a credit card or any other charge. There is no way to request a "refund" for this. This is why there is a problem and why can’t anyone simply give a customer service email or more straightforward way of getting ahold of an actual individual
