@Option-1 , you are correct it would be nice to know the reason for not triggering form 1116.   You say you have no allowable FTC or  that the US tax on the foreign source income is zero ?   I saw one case where the   foreign rental income under US laws was negative/ no tax but under the foreign country tax laws attracted Foreign Tax.  Again TurboTax did not explain to the user why no form 1116.   Is there more one of us can do for you ?   If not then till next year

Minnesota AMT is only required if you owed Federal AMT.  did you complete M1MT for Minnesota AMT during the state interview? You are correct that the 6251 is required if you owe Minnesota AMT.  It should attach.  Were you subject to AMT for federal and Minnesota?    If NOT you may have to delete the forms you created during the interview.  How to delete forms:   ONLINE TTSign in and open your return. Select Tax Tools > Tools from the left-hand menu. Select Delete a form in the pop-up window. Locate the form/schedule in the  list, click  Delete, and confirm.     For DESKTOP: Switch to Forms Mode by clicking the Forms icon. Select the form to remove on the left side. Click Delete Form at the bottom of the screen @user17758411461

IRS Publication 970, Tax Benefits for Education states that nontaxable distributions should not be entered.  The 529 is not taxable when used on eligible expenses along with qualified room and board.

So last night I largely completed my taxes but I have to file an extension due to an error on a 1099-R.  Anyway, I paid an estimated federal amount due that was very close to the total I owed, entered that into the appropriate space which nearly zero'd out my federal owed, and logged out.  I wrote down the amounts I had remaining for both federal and state.  I just logged in a few minutes ago and to my amazement my federal owed jumped up over $1,700 and state jumped an additional $400.  Just from logging in to the online version.    Really gives me a whole lot of confidence in this god-awful service after the mess with it saying it was going to file my return when filing an extension last night.  I have no idea if my taxes are anywhere remotely close to correct now.  Fix your sh*t Intuit.  This will be the last year I use this service.

This page seems to indicate that it is supported https://form-status.app.intuit.com/tax-forms-availability/formsavailability?albRedirect=true&product=Turbotax_online&bu=cg.   Is there a way to go into Form mode to see all the forms included in my filing thus far and possibly manually edit forms directly? Since the wizard isn't showing the expected steps regarding the IT-203-F form. Would seeing Form mode require paying for Turbotax online first? I just want to make sure everything I need is supported before paying.

Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges! Yes, it's okay but not wise for your husband to delay paying the RMD until beyond Dec. 31 and pay twice the following year. You could end up paying extra tax in a higher tax bracket, more tax on social security, etc. I had a RMD issue but corrected it by going into the forms, understanding what was going on, and changing it there, then going back thru the TurboTax questions to see if any other issues popped up.

Form 8833 is not required for exemptions on Social Security benefits but without the form explaining, it does look taxable. You should fill in the 8833, include your proof of foreign residency to counter the US address. Reference your specific treaty and article in your simple, easy to read letter replying to the IRS.   In the future, you could either:  mail your return with the 8833 attached or use professional software Perhaps TurboTax will incorporate it if they understand the need. You can file an accuracy claim. How do I submit a claim under the TurboTax 100% Accurate Calculation Guarantee or 100% Accurate, Expert Approved Guarantee?
That would be appropriate.
