@DaveF1006  To clarify, what does the sentence "This option erases your information to give you a fresh start in the new product you've chosen." mean? It gives the impression that even my information from last year might be erased.   To further clarify, I think the option to "Start for Free" is misleading. It can be interpreted that if I don't use "Expert Assist" it won't cost extra. What a surprise! Not only am I caught off guard, facing a significantly higher cost than expected but the recommended alternative is the erase my information and start over. How friendly... Have you noticed that no one "likes" your posts with this recommendation?   I've used TurboTax since 1994 and never once saw a benefit for being a repeat customer. I'm getting the message.

Your question is not clear. There is no line 16b on Form 1040. What exactly are you trying to do? You should enter your pension, and the simplified method information, in the step-by-step interview, not in forms mode. Entering it in forms mode is complicated and error-prone. When you use the interview TurboTax will make the appropriate entry on Form 1040.

Did the tax service not give you a copy of your 2024 return?  You were entitled to one.   You can ask them for one, or ask them to tell you the 2024 AGI, which is found on the 2024 Form 1040, Line 11.   If you have (or can establish) an online IRS account, you should be able to find the 2024 AGI there.  Or from a 2024 tax return transcript, also accessible through the IRS online account.

Answer the same way described above.  Indicate that the entire amount of the distribution was for the RMD.  Here is additional information on entering Qualified Charitable Donations (QCDs):   You report a QCD in the 1099-R entry section.   After entering the 1099-R details, there are a series of screens with questions about the distribution.  You need to go through all the screens/questions. Do not exit the 1099-R entry section before answering all the questions. When asked "Did you transfer all or part of this money directly to charity?", select Yes. Enter the exact amount of the distribution that was transferred directly to the charity. TurboTax will report the full distribution on Form 1040, Line 4a, but will not include the QCD portion in the taxable amount on Line 4b. A direct transfer of funds from your IRA custodian, payable to a qualified charity is referred to as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).  QCDs can be counted toward satisfying your required minimum distributions (RMDs) for the year, as long as certain rules are met.  While the QCD amount is not taxed, you may not then claim the distribution as a charitable tax deduction.   Here are the requirements for making QCDs: You must be 70½ or older to be eligible to make a QCD. QCDs are limited to the amount that would otherwise be taxed as ordinary income. This excludes non-deductible contributions. The maximum annual amount that can qualify for a QCD is $100,000. This applies to the sum of QCDs made to one or more charities in a calendar year. (If, however, you file taxes jointly, your spouse can also make a QCD from his or her own IRA within the same tax year for up to $100,000.) For a QCD to count towards your current year's RMD, the funds must come out of your IRA by your RMD deadline, generally December 31. Any amount donated above your RMD does not count toward satisfying a future year's RMD. Funds distributed directly to you, the IRA owner, and which you then give to charity do not qualify as a QCD.
No loop has been described.  You first need to tell the community what the issue is.  Then if someone is familiar with it, you will likely get some comments.

TurboTax 2025. Using forms view, I cannot enter data into 8615. I can only "override." Using "step by step," Turbo did not input my data correctly. Specifically, it did not "pull" the unearned investment income ($2793) to line 1 nor add the $2700 to line 2. It did not fill in any of the data for all the lines in 8615 (earned income, etc).  How do I enter this data?
TOKEN: [phone number removed]3999  @DanaB27   I have the same problem: my Roth contribution of $8000 is being considered excess and taxed $480.  Our joint AGI is way below the maximum allowed.

I have rechecked my w-2 twice and there is no error in what I was giving.
You have to get your W-2 from the employer. It's not clear what the connection is between your 2024 tax return and your 2025 W-2. A W-2 for 2025 has to be reported on your 2025 tax return. Wh... See more...
You have to get your W-2 from the employer. It's not clear what the connection is between your 2024 tax return and your 2025 W-2. A W-2 for 2025 has to be reported on your 2025 tax return. What exactly did you lose? Your tax return is the Form 1040 that you send to the IRS that shows your income and calculates your tax. The money the IRS sends back to you is your refund.
I just finished filing my taxes were almost finished file in my taxes they say I owe money so I'm trying to set up a payment plan so I can go ahead and file
