Can you explain this second paragraph more?   "Regarding the difference in the amount that your balance due going up differently between the traditional and Roth IRA contributions, my guess is that you made a traditional IRA distribution in 2025 and the basis in nondeductible traditional IRA contributions that results from making the excess traditional IRA contribution slightly reduces the taxable amount of that traditional IRA distribution, calculated on Form 8606 Part I."

IRS Publication 526, page 7, states:   Out-of-Pocket Expenses in Giving Services    Although you cannot deduct the value of your services given to a qualified organization, you may be able to deduct some amounts you pay in giving services to a qualified organization. The amounts must be:    Unreimbursed;  Directly connected with the services;  Expenses you had only because of the services you gave; and  Not personal, living, or family expenses.  Page 10 clarifies the matter.  It states:   Personal Expenses    You cannot deduct personal, living, or family expenses, such as the following items.    • The cost of meals you eat while you perform services for a qualified organization, unless it is necessary for you to be away from home overnight while performing the services.   @homeofcarol 

If your dependent (or anyone in your tax family/on your return) is listed on a 1095-A, it has to be entered on your tax return.   After you enter it, you will be asked if you shared this policy with another taxpayer?   Answer Yes.    Answering YES will allow you to allocate the amounts in columns A-C.     Where do I enter my 1095-A?   You and your ex-wife must agree on how to split the percentages for the "Premium," "SLCSP," and "APTC."  You can do whatever works out best for your families - as long as the percentages add up to 100% between the two returns.    You can allocate 0% to your return and all of it to her return or vice-versa.   You can allocate the amounts however you agree to - whatever option gives the best tax outcome.   That will of course depend on each of your situations.      If you cannot agree on a split, the IRS default is typically to divide the amounts by the number of people covered (e.g., if there were 2 people on the policy—her and the child—and you claim the child, you would each take 50%) - but if you can agree, you may be able to get a better tax outcome by splitting it up in a different proportion.   As long as the amount total 100% between your two returns, the IRS will be happy.     Some example scenarios for shared 1095-A policies  

I did resolve this.  The capital gain screen is deceptive as it seemed to be responding to my input capital gains data.  That screen is static.  It had no relation to my actual input data.  I have no Oklahoma stocks,  and removed all federal information for the companies.  I had to delete the form.  The form did not regenerate.  Things proceeded without any error messages.   It is better than previous years, because you do not have to exclude every non Oklahoma stock.  The instructions on that screen need to be improved.

I don't know either. However, I assume you want to streamline the tax filing process by consolidating all related information in TurboTax, treating it as a one-stop shop. From my experience, it is a novel idea, but hard to implement. Instead, do it the old-fashioned way, recording tax filing-related information in a designated notebook by hand is the easiest and most effective way. Alternatively, you can print the estimated tax payment receipt and place it in a physical folder. Additionally, collect any printed or digital info, in paper form, that will be used next year and place it in the folder as well.

For your Per-Diem that is in Box 14 of your Form W-2 you can select "Other (not classified)" in the TurboTax category box dropdown. If your employer included the per diem in Box 14, it is generally informational and not taxable.  If it was not taxable, it should not affect your tax liability.   Please return to Community if you have any additional information or questions and we would be happy to help.

If your bank or financial institution is not on the drop down list, click the words “I’ll type it in myself” and key in your information by hand.     See if your financial institution is on the Partner List - If not, you will have to enter the information manually.  

No one in the user forum can see your return or "review" it for you.    In order to have an expert review a return you would have to pay for that service.       Start out by double checking all of the amounts you entered for your friend and make sure you did not add any extra zeros or misplace a decimal or use a comma where a decimal should have been used.  And take a second look at the AGI on line 11 that you are citing.    Tax due is shown on line 37 of the Form 1040.   

To file a Grand Rapids local income tax return, you must include pages 1 and 2 of your federal return, along with your supporting documents like W-2s, 1099s, and relevant schedules (C, E, etc.).
