It was likely taken out of your paycheck, reducing your taxable wages on your W-2, so it's already been deducted from your income.  However, only your employer can tell you for certain.

TurboTax is a poorly run scam. My husband and I both filed as married filing separately this year in February, and both of our tax "experts" forgot to include our property taxes on our state returns. My husband setup a phone appointment to have his return amended, to which the representative never called. He had to call back and explain how to add property taxes to the state return. I had a new representative assigned to me, who said she would reach out by the end of February, and I never heard back. I had to call TurboTax in March. I waited on hold for 20 min, someone answered the phone and immediately hung up. The same thing happened AGAIN. After calling a third time, I finally got a hold of someone and was on the phone for hours trying to sort out my very simple request. Even though we paid for "full service," we now have pay to mail in our amended returns.   I don't think a single person that either I or my husband talked to knew what they were doing. Hiring TurboTax was a waste of time and money, and was actually more stressful than just filing my taxes myself as I've been doing for a number of years. I will never use this amateur service again.

Once your tax return is released to the IRS, TurboTax has no control over it. However, the IRS has published an article because delays happen so frequently. Why it may take longer than 21 days for some taxpayers to receive their federal refund The IRS states, "To check the status of a refund, taxpayers should use the  Where's My Refund? tool on IRS.gov." You will need: Social Security Number Zip Code Refund amount

1. Oh it was processed last year and I received a refund. The problem is that when I click “Amend…”, Turbotax just says it’s checking for errors, then no arrows found, and I can’t get in there to make any changes. All of your steps 2-5 are not available to me because Turbo is sending me in a loop saying it’s all filed and processed.  thank you for replying!
You should have gotten an email from the state explaining the reason for rejection or an error code. Without this, we can help. Also need the state.
Accepted 3/17 still don’t have it

It falls to me, a level one community member, to provide an answer to this question. My solution was to click on my '24 Turbotax file from Finder in Mac OS. This opened the '25 tax software which asked me if I wanted to import '24 taxes. I answered "yes," and I was on my way. I don't think this random procedure is how it is supposed to work, and it would seem that in this day and age, this process would work more smoothly in any tax software.

@rcepuch , ah yes!  I understand  that situation.  Thank you for sharing.   Yes , in my case mentioned  above, I found that Turbo arbitrarily included some countries and not  others --- the table that you mentioned.  So I stopped at that screen and  updated  the countries list line by line. Thereafter it walked me through each country ( from the list  )  asking for  foreign source income, taxes etc.  When all done and I went to forms mode , I found that for each country ( in all the  1116 copies ) the  Foreign Taxes  "Paid/Accrued"  was not checked ( RED ) and the paid date was blank. Corrected these and everything was correct.   Yes , it could be done a lot better.  I am hoping to raise a request for  this  (post 4/15) to powers be.  Again thank you for sharing

However I am not able to refile my State return (not getting anything) even though I have fixed the federal errors. what do I need to do?

Agreed; it would be nice if a TurboTax representative (like Diane did to some extent in the above stream) would provide a more definitive answer as to when we might get an update to correct this situation. This situation is not quite so earth shattering for me as I plan to have the necessary withholdings made from my future pension RMD's but for others who rely on making estimated tax payments, the April 15 due date is a problem. Let's hope TurboTax reacts and corrects quickly. Good luck.

I'd say you could do what you proposed as the end result is going to be accurate in terms of gains/losses, which is all they really care about. In other words, provided the totals are correct, you should be OK.
