The IRS CP2000 notice indicates differences between your tax return and income reported by other sources. TurboTax doesn't provide support for responding to CP2000 notices unless you purchased the Audit Defense service through TaxAudit. If you have Audit Defense, you may get full audit representation and assistance with your CP2000 notice. TurboTax doesn't assist with CP2000 responses; it's your responsibility to respond to this notice. To respond: 1. Review the notice carefully. 2. Follow the instructions on the notice regarding how to respond. 3. Use the specific address or phone number shown on the notice to reply. 4. If included, complete, sign, and return the Response Form. 5. If you disagree with the proposed changes, send a signed statement explaining why along with any supporting documents. 6. Send your response by the deadline to avoid penalties or further IRS action. Responding by the deadline helps avoid penalties or further IRS actions.   @mikehickey365

It comes after the 1099-Q interview.   Click continue at the 1099-Q summary screen. The next screen should be the Nondependent student information summary.  Be sure to answer all the yes/no questions in the 1099-Q interview (mostly no). Leaving some unanswered seems to "upset" TT.  Be sure to enter a student name in the 1099-Q section.    I have desktop Deluxe. It could be that online is different/still broken.   You might try deleting the 1099-Q and starting over and use the alternate entry point.  The 1099-Q can be entered either at: 1. Federal Taxes Tab  Deductions & Credits -Scroll down to: --Education   --ESA and 529 Qualified Tuition Programs (1099-Q)   Or   2. Federal Wages and income    Scroll down to:  -Less Common Income    -Miscellaneous Income 1099-A, 1099-C (Press start)     -On the next screen, choose ESA and 529 Distributions (1099-Q)
Call the number on your notice.

$2500 is foreign sourced ordinary dividends in 1a (1b would be 2K) - just the factored amount times the dividends.  The 20K capital gains is US sourced and can be ignored for the Foreign Tax Credit.  It automatically goes to Schedule D.      @Warbirdluvr
if your return has been accepted wait until any refund or tax liability has been settled and then amend your return.

@ dav321  You'll need to use a creative way to post the token number so it gets by the forum filter, which thinks it's a phone number.

Hi Lena, I generated the diagnostic file, and the token number is 9059977971978971-82689688 .   I want to let you know that this file reflects that in TurboTax, I went to Forms, California Form 5805, and in Part III (Annualized Income Installment Method), line 6, I overrode the entry in column (d), with what I calculated to be the correct value. Before my override, that entry was the same as line 4, column (d), which I believe to be a bug.
TurboTax receives no information about refunds. Contact your state agency if you don’t get a letter explaining the adjustment in a few weeks.

I am having a similar issue with Premier.  In the Contribution Worksheet I entered $23,500 as my 401(k) elective deferrals but I get an error message that says taxpayer elective referrals to an individual 401(k) plan should not be greater than $23,500.   I get the same error message, even if I input a much smaller number.    TurboTax says that my software is fully up-to-date.   Any thoughts?   thanks

Really? This is the first time I've heard of this executive order. I've found the relevant area in the PDF where the string, "Electronic Filing Instructions" is. And most significantly, it says:   Your tax refund should be mailed to you Refund within three to four weeks after your return is accepted.   (Emphasis is mine) OK, that text was likely generated by TurboTax/Intuit. I don't know when that executive order went into effect, but I would think that TurboTax SHOULD have known about that way in advance!! They should have wanted users, like me, who have for many years always had Federal income tax refunds mailed to me. They should have had a popup something to the effect that only under rare conditions would an exception be allowed, otherwise you must use direct deposit.   The letter I got was IRS Notice CP53E   Well, thank you.
