Yes. If you had the coverage and received a premium tax credit for it, you are still responsible for reporting it and claiming it on your tax return even if you did not use it at all.

These answers are incorrect. TT DID give the option for me to pay my state owed out of my fed refund. Now my Fed refund is reduced by the state amount IN ADDITION to TT fees. TT has done it this way for years. At the end of filing TR sent me a voucher to use to pay my state myself. Since I filed last minute I paid my own state taxes. TT has still kept the state amount, sending me only a portion of my fed taxes. Can someone answer the question from TT instead of using googles AI response?!

If the amounts aren't matching, there could possibly be a return that someone else filed in your name. You may need to contact the IRS at the number on the letter that you received.
If you received a CP5447 series notice or CP5071 series notice from the IRS needs to verify your identity and the return that was filed. The IRS wants to ensure that it was you who filed the tax return.
Refer to the IRS Help Topic Verify your return to complete.
Refer to the IRS Tax Tips: The IRS alerts taxpayers of suspected identity theft by letter and What taxpayers should do if they get an identity theft letter from the IRS for further instructions.

For tax year 2026 (i.e. 2027 filing), let's say the federal standard deduction is $32,200 and Oklahoma deduction is 12,700 for MFJ. Oklahoma requires you to take standard deduction for state if you take it on federal. I'm forecasting my itemizations to come in around $30k for federal, $28k for state, providing incentive to itemize even though I'm below the federal STD deduction. If I boost my state income tax withholdings this year by about $2k, is that a workaround to allow me to get full benefit on both levels? My thought is the 1099G worksheet won't lower my deduction below the federal STD deduction, effectively allowing me to take the STD deduction on federal, itemizing the state, all for a small loan to Oklahoma in my increased withholdings.

You can no longer use TurboTax Online to file for 2024. TurboTax Online is only for the current tax year, which is now 2025. To file for 2024 you have to use TurboTax Desktop for 2024. You can purchase a download at the following link.
Past Years' Products
TurboTax Desktop can only be used on a Windows or Mac computer, not on a mobile device or a Chromebook.
Tax returns for past years cannot be e-filed. You will have to print your 2024 tax return, sign it, and file it by mail. When you file by mail you have to attach copies of your W-2s and any W-2G or 1099-R that has tax withheld. We suggest that you mail it by certified mail with a return receipt so that you get tracking and confirmation of delivery. Mail your federal and state tax returns in separate envelopes, because they go to different places. Follow the filing instructions that TurboTax prints.

The letter asks specifically: If you did not file the tax return referenced above, check the box below and send us a copy of this letter. Then there are brackets which are followed by the statement ... [ ] No, I did not file this tax return. While I supplied all the supporting documents to TurboTax my understanding is that I did not file this return with the IRS. Am I correct in that supposition? Should I place a check mark in the brackets?

No. You do not get a notice saying that your return was completely processed. You can check your IRS Online account to see the status of your return when you owe money.
If there was a corrected 1099 that was not accounted for, and the IRS caught it, yes, you would get a letter from them letting you know they are making changes to your return. If you did not include correct information and your return was processed, then you can amend your return by signing back into your account or program and clicking the amend button.

Thank you. How do I tell if my return was "completely processed"? I got a message that my return was accepted, and I could see that my tax payment was withdrawn from my bank account. But do I get a notice from someone that my return was completely processed? And, if there is a corrected 1099 form wasn't accounted for, wouldn't this result in a notice from the IRS that my tax return wasn't completed properly?
