I suspect that the error message is wrong.  I'm receiving it as well.  I double checked my two college kids and verified that they are both dependents, but this tax year my income exceeded the education credit income limits ($180,000), whereas last tax year it didn't, so I was able to claim the credit.  I think that TT Online may be legitimately disallowing it, but with a bad error message.

Hi, I have the same problem that everyone else is reporting here. I have been in IT for 30 years. Bugs happen, but when they do, it is really bad form to blame it on the users. This is clearly a TurboTax bug. Also, at least in my case, when you say: >> Look at your Form 1040 and see if line 6b was left blank due to that mistake.   My line 6b "Taxable amount" of social security is not blank but calculated and shown as $0 by TurboTax. It should have been taxable. This is the reason my big refund went to a big amount owed. TurboTax should step up and explain that this is/was a bug.
I need to change the answer to the question on my tax form that asks- can anyone else claim you.

For Federal purposes, RX costs are included with other medical costs on Schedule A. Total medical costs are then reduced by 7.5 % of your adjusted gross income  so 1) if you're not itemizing, entering them or your total medical costs are less than that 7.5%, there is no benefit to entering them unless you have state income taxes that have different rules for medical expenses.
I keep having the same issue. Has anyone answered your question?
Already did my state but california owes me money. I paid income tax for several months not living there.

Does the IRS website for the status of a federal tax refund indicates the refund was issued? - https://www.irs.gov/refunds   If you requested to have the TurboTax account fees deducted from your federal tax refund, the IRS will send the refund to a third party processor to have the fees and the $40 service charge deducted. The third party processor will deduct the TurboTax fees plus the $40 service charge and then attempt to direct deposit the remaining refund balance into the account that you entered on your tax return. For the status of your tax refund you will need to contact the third party processor, Santa Barbara Tax Product Group, using their website - https://www.sbtpg.com/ Tax Products Group Contact Information - https://help.sbtpg.com/hc/en-us/articles/230084587-Contact-Information Call 1-877-908-7228 Or email - TPG-CSsupport@greendotcorp.com

Follow-up thoughts: I'm not sure what (B) cumulative adjustment to basis represents What I recommended previously, is take your $6,000 beginning stepped up basis, adjust this for the applicable lines on the current year K-1 and this becomes your ending tax basis (also your cost basis). I agree with your understanding of the 1099-B When you enter the K-1 information in TT, and you indicate you "sold" the interest, at some point TT will ask for sales price, cost basis (tax basis) and any ordinary income recapture.  This is where the "sale" information should be reported. Don't worry about the capital account information.  TT doesn't really use this As noted previously, the decedent holding period "tacks" on to you, so you would enter this date; which provides you with LT gain or loss. Selling date should conform to the date on the 1099-B.
