@kelly-marriott , there are several possibilities. If you are eligible to treat the $267 as part of a contribution for 2025, you can simply do that and you'll have no excess for 2025 and no excess that continues to carry forward. If you can't do that for 2025, you'll owe the $16 penalty for 2025. Similarly, if you are HSA eligible in 2026, you could treat the excess carried forward from 2025 as part of your 2026 HSA contribution. Absent the ability to apply it as part of a contribution for a year in which you are eligible to do so, the excess would need to be resolved by obtaining an ordinary taxable (code 1) distribution from the HSA. An HSA distribution is made taxable by not applying it to medical expenses. If you paid medical expenses from your HSA in 2025, you could treat up to $267 of those distributions as not applied to medical expenses, making that portion taxable. If distributions from the HSA in 2025 were less than $267, you'll need to obtain a taxable distribution of $267 in 2026. If you are under age 65 when the taxable distribution is made, the distribution is also subject to a 20% (in this case, $53) early-distribution penalty.

Type 'disability' in the search bar and the question then popped up for me. It did not automatically ask it as in previous years.

Who sent the message and what else did it say? It could have been a phishing email trying to get you to click on a link and enter information.

No, you are using the 4797. I am trying to enter the nominee half and hitting the wall you hit. Putting in the nominee part is not working. You will have to file it with your half correctly and add a disclosure statement that you have a nominee for the rest of it. Instead, I am struggling with the disclosure form as well. There are quite a few. You may need to use Blank Form instead.
The first goal is for your tax return to be correct. Claiming your half correctly is priority. The IRS should be able to match up your form plus the nominee to understand the issue. The disclosure or blank form or nominee entry helps them identify the issue more quickly. Keep all of your proof together in case the IRS asks in a few years.

The “senior deduction” is added automatically by the software based on the date of birth and filing status you entered into MY INFO. You do not need to take any extra steps to enter it. (And…the new senior deduction has nothing to do with whether you are getting Social Security)
The deduction is not on the same line as your standard deduction. It is shown separately.on line 13b.
2025 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS
SINGLE $15,750 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)
MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $15,750 (65 or older/legally blind +1600)
MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $31,500 (65 or older/legally blind + $1600)
HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD $23,625 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)
For 2025 through 2028 there is an extra deduction amount of up to $6000 per individual 65 or older filing Single, MFJ, or HOH which is phased out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers.
(The deduction phases out completely at $175.000 Single or HOH, or $250,000 joint)
The $6,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b. It is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e. Turbo Tax automatically includes it.

If you are not getting the senior deduction it is because
Your date of birth in MY INFO shows that you were not 65 by the end of 2025
Your income is too high
You are filing married filing separately

Did you try the tips in this help article? How do I enter my tax-exempt Medicaid waiver payments from IHSS in TurboTax? These steps will ensure your exempt income is reported accurately while still allowing you to e-file your return.
If you don't have any dollar amounts on your W-2, you qualify to exclude the income under IRS Notice 2014-7, and you don't expect to qualify for Earned Income Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit, then you don't need to enter the W-2 at all. And make sure you don't have any empty forms included by using the delete a form tool.
