You're going to use "given away" as of the date that it was converted to personal use and then it will be removed from the return.  You will have to add it back in for the sale.

The refund date as shown on the TurboTax website or via email is an estimate only.  It is based on the IRS average of 21 days to issue a tax refund after receiving the tax return.   Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.   Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.   If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_...   After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.

kebell50 - What the DOR lady said makes sense to me because I'd be skeptical that any state agency would be implementing special software for a private company. What I am more hopeful about is that maybe TurboTax themselves will get their own software updated within a few days so that it complies with the Wisconsin requirements. Regards, Mike O'Brien

If you're a US resident required to file, and you have Chinese pension income, you can report it by going to Income Topics page, scroll all the way down to 'Miscellaneous Income 1099-A, 1099-C' and choose Start/Update.   On the next page, scroll all the way down to 'Other Reportable Income', Start/Update.  On the next page, enter a description/amount.   Pension income is taxed the same as other income.  If you paid taxes to China on your income, you could enter the Gross Amount and then claim a Foreign Tax Credit for the tax amount paid, or just enter the Net Amount on this page.   If your pension is from China for services performed for China, it may be exempt from U.S. tax if you are not a U.S. citizen or green card holder.    @Jscg   [Edited 02/26/2026 | 5:50 pm]

Unfortunately, you can't change that option once it's been chosen. You'll need to start a new return if you want to import your TurboTax Desktop file from last year.   To start a new return, select “Start a New Return” from under “My Returns” in the bottom left corner. Once you have started your new return, you can select “View All Returns” from under “My Returns”. Then delete the unwanted return by clicking the small Trash Can next to it or “Delete” under the return’s name.

Once you have investment income (like a T5), you are moved out of "Free." Deluxe is designed to unlock forms for interest, dividends, and certain credits (like donations or medical expenses).   If you only have a T5 with Box 13 (Interest from Canadian sources), Deluxe should be the end of the line for you. You shouldn't be asked to pay again unless you suddenly add a rental property or a business (T2125).   The reason the "What Deluxe covers" list didn't seem to include your specific line is likely because Intuit groups "T5, T3, and T5008" under the broad umbrella of "Investment Income and Expenses."   Hope this helps!    Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
sounds great but I need the authority for this, please.  where are you getting this information?

@markmil11 God, you're an idiot. You really shouldn't be preparing your own tax return; you're too stupid.

You can report all taxes you paid before you file under Deductions & Credits >> Estimates and Other Taxes Paid >> Estimated Tax Payments >> Federal estimated taxes for 20XX.    It doesn't matter that you didn't use Form 1040-ES. Click the option for "Add another payment" under Additional payments so you can enter the date and amount.

The second of my questions was why my owed Federal Tax would not reduce to zero given that I have plenty of credits from last year. The answer turns out to be that the Federal Tax owed was due to my self-employment tax. Apparently this is calculated after the credits have been applied, and so has to be paid. Credits were applied to taxes incurred from capital gains. It would be nice if TurboTax could have explained that to me at some point during the form completion process.
