TurboTax is still updating to support the new Form 1099-Q box 4b for Qualified Tuition Program (QTP) transfers to Roth IRAs.    Some users are reporting that the software still flags this transfer as a taxable event, with updates scheduled to resolve this throughout the 2026 tax filing season.

I am trying to submit older year taxes & went to submit & getting the error message. Refund transfer payment method is not available right now. To finish e-file select option to pay with your credit card or try again later. When I tried to pay with Credit Card it would not allow stating I had to do it where Turbo Tax did it & I would have in incur the fee from Turbo Tax.

Thank you for sending your token. I have your tax file now but I get an error when I attempt to open it: "some formsets are not present on this machine. Please install all formsets". This can happen if the correct state is not installed.   Which state(s) do you have in your return? I will need to install them in order to open your file.   @KevinP1

I did a 1031 exchange a few years ago that was a one property for two properties; I tried doing it myself, but it was clear after many hours of attempting it, that it was best left to full support expert.  I handed it off and was very relieved to have it done properly.  My conclusion was that the TurboTax software isn't set up to handle a complex 1031 exchange.  In fact, I'd not even do it for a one to one at this point.   I found it well worth the money to let full support handle it. Then in the following years, it's no problem to go back to doing it yourself or with the Assist option.  That's my opinion.

Roth contributions are not reportable on Form 8606.  A traditional IRA distribution and an ordinary Roth IRA contribution are entirely separate transactions.  The traditional IRA distribution is only reportable on Form 8606 if you have basis in nondeductible traditional IRA contributions.   Entering your Roth IRA contribution into TurboTax will allow TurboTax to determine if your Roth IRA contribution is within the contribution limits and will allow TurboTax to track your basis in Roth IRA contributions for use in determining the taxable amount of any future Roth IRA distributions.

(I may be double-posting this, so apologies in advance)   I get a pension from Maryland.  Box 19 had EP USED entered.   Two 'continues' after entering the 1099 R data is this:   Where is your distribution from? Select the source of this distribution and enter any other Maryland information. Learn more -Pickup contribution -Active or reserve military retirement -Self employed retirement income from a plan you established and contributed to before 1967 -None of the above   Since the 'Pickup' has been used, it is all taxable.  Fine.  My two choices are 'Pickup contribution' and 'None of the above'   Which should I choose, please.   Thanks.   P   PS, Intuit Admins:  I have to make my cookie selections every time I sign in, despite telling you to save my choices.
Thank you

Please try this, since we now know you have TurboTax Desktop.   At the top, click on Tools, then click on Topic List. Then scroll down to Deductions & Credits->Medical->Archer MSA/Health Savings Accounts (Form 1099-SA) and click on this.   This should take you to the first screen of the HSA Interview, where you enter the health-related accounts that you have (like the HSA). Be sure that you have checked that at least one of you has an HSA.   The next screen might read "1099-SA Summary". You can just hit Continue.   One more thing...is it possible you are confusing the "1099-SA Summary" with the "Your HSA Summary" (which is the end of the HSA interview)?   If you still can't find the "Let's enter Shelley's HSA contributions" screen, then please give us the title lines of the screens that you do see, starting with "Select the health-related accounts you had in 2025".

TurboTax will flag an employer's name as invalid usually due to special characters (such as &, ,, #) in the name. Or if it exceeds 35 characters.    Make sure there are no blank spaces in front of your employer's name when entering it.   This occurs more often when your W-2 information is imported incorrectly.   Depending on where you are in the process of preparing your tax return, it may have detected a mismatch between the Employer Identification Number (EIN) and the employer's name in IRS records.    You can delete the Form W-2 and re-enter it if the problem persists.   You can easily get back to the screen in TurboTax where your W-2 is entered if you need to make any changes as follows: Click on "Search" in the top right of your TurboTax screen. Type "W-2" in the search bar. Click on the link "Jump to W-2" Your screen will say "W-2 Summary"  Click on "Edit" or "Review" next to the W-2 you want to change   Click here for How do I manually enter my W-2?  If you have additional information or questions regarding this, please return to Community and we would be glad to help.

The OBBBA has introduced a new deduction for car loan interest paid for new cars you bought for personal use between 2025 and 2028.   The deduction is up to $10,000 if your income is under $100,000 (or $200,000 if MFJ). The deduction is gradually phased out for higher incomes.   For the requirements of this deduction, please read this TurboTax Help article.   In TurboTax Online, you can enter your car loan deduction by following these steps: Open your tax return Click on Federal in the left-hand column, then on Deductions & Credits Navigate to the list of Deductions and Credits Click on Other Deductible expenses Locate the section Cars and Other Things You Own and click on the arrow on the right Click Start next to Car Loan Interest  Follow the TurboTax questionnaire to enter your car loan interest The deduction will transfer to Schedule 1-A of your form 1040, which is then transferred together with other deductions such as the additional senior deduction, the overtime deduction and the tips deduction, to line 13b of your form 1040.

My situation seems to fit the free version, but TurboTax wants to charge $99. I want to see the forms used to prepare my taxes so I know what I'm being charged for, and to verify specific information. I found previous years' info, but I can't find the actual forms used before I complete and file.

I lived in Missouri all of 2025, (my former address was Arizona) but I didn’t update my address with pension until mid 2025. Therefore, I received a 1099R for AZ and one for MO with the respective distribution amounts. No taxes were withheld.  How do I handle this? And do I need to file a non- resident return in AZ since I didn’t live there and I received the distribution while living in MO?
CAR LOAN INTEREST Go to Federal>Deductions and Credits>Cars and Other Things You Own>Car Loan Interest The amount will go on Schedule 1a and end up on Form 1040 on line 13b
