can I get information on how to file 2022 taxes since I bought a house that year?
I took the RMD as required- I do not have a remaining amount to be taken out.
I see the cap gains from Sched D added on line 7A. We're below the threshold and cap gains should be 0%. I don't see how it's removed and taxed differently than regular taxable income. Thanks.
My refund is 200.00 less than TurboTax said

$500 is the maximum transfer amount. It could be less if the student is using part of the tuition on their own return.

To check on regular tax refund status via automated phone, call 800-829-1954.   Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities.  There is no rule as to which one will come in first or how long it will be between their arrival in your account.   TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.      First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.     You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds   To track your state refund:     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr   If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh . https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst         If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act.  Do not expect your refund before early March   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/internal-revenue-service/federal-refunds-delayed-due-path-act/L5jnQJsBi_US_en_US   Note:  “Accepted” is not the same as “approved”.  TurboTax tells you the e-file was accepted if the IRS deems that there is enough information on the return for them to take it in for processing.   Only the IRS can approve of the refund, which is a later stage of processing.  If the IRS approves your refund they will provide a date for the refund to be issued.   FROM THE IRS WHERE’S MY REFUND SITE: https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund How it works Where's My Refund shows your refund status: Return Received – We received your return and are processing it. Refund Approved – We approved your refund and are preparing to issue it by the date shown. Refund Sent – We sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail. It may take 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.
Yes, you must claim your tuition for it to carry forward.

there may be a way to enter types A & D without adjustments as totals that appear on line 1A and 8A of schedule D. In the jump-to box, type "1099-B" no quotes. Then double-click on the listing for the 1099-B worksheet . The Form 1099-B Worksheet should open. Partway down, you see something like "Form 8949 reporting exception transactions".  You enter Type A and D transactions as noted above. No details need to be sent to the IRS. These are reported directly on Schedule D, lines 1A and 8A. For other transaction types, you must use the "Capital Asset Sales Worksheetand and enter summary totals with code "M", which tells the IRS that multiple transactions have been entered on the same line. These are reported on Form 8949, and details must be furnished to the IRS. TurboTax should complete Form 8453 for mailing to the IRS along with details  (1099-B is okay) not reported on the 1099-B worksheet.   When and Where To File Form 8453 If you are filing your tax return using an online provider, mail Form 8453 to the IRS within 3 business days after you have received acknowledgement from your intermediate service provider (ISP) and/or transmitter that the IRS has accepted your electronically filed tax return. If you don’t receive an acknowledgement, you must contact your intermediate service provider and/or transmitter. Mail Form 8453 to: Internal Revenue Service Attn: Shipping and Receiving, 0254 Receipt and Control Branch Austin, TX 73344-0254

What do you mean by "again?"   Did you e-file last year and was the return rejected?   What happened?  Why do you want to do it again?   A 2024 return cannot be prepared using online software, nor can it be e-filed.   A 2024 return has to be prepared using desktop download and can only be filed by mail.  You will be able to access the 2024 return you started by using the exact same account and user ID that you used when you started it.   But you can no longer use online software for any further changes.       Start a 2025  return online and enter some personal information  so that the menu on the left opens up and lets you access your past year returns.   Online tax preparation and e-filing for 2024  returns is now permanently closed.    Now it is too late to use online software or to e-file. If you have any changes/corrections at all to make to your 2024 return, you now have to complete it using desktop software, which you must download to a full PC or Mac  (not to a mobile device). Then you need to print, sign and mail it.   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/printers-printing/finish-prior-year-return-started-turbotax-online/L9Oe4M90A_US_en_US?uid=m68tffpe   If you already paid for your online software you can ask customer support for a download of the desktop software.   They are available from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Pacific time   https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899263-what-is-the-turbotax-phone-number     If you are getting a refund, there is no penalty for filing late.  If you owe tax due, then file and pay the amount due as shown on the Form 1040, but expect a bill later from the IRS for the penalty and interest you will owe.  Only the IRS will calculate this—TurboTax will not calculate it.     When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.   Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

Hello,  Token 1343050   1. May I please confirm if for this situation in this thread would I file the NC first or NY one? In this situation, the W2 took taxes for NC but I am a part year resident of both NC and NYC so I want to make sure I get a refund for from one state so I don't get double taxed.    In turbotax I am putting that I was in NC the first part of the year and then moved to NYC. I am also filing non-resident tax for Illinois rental property but never worked or lived there. I also made some estimated payments to NYC last year since the W2 showed NC the whole year 2025.   2. If I file NC first, for the "Other State Tax Credit" I wouldn't be able to know the tax amount due to NYC until I completed the NYC tax so maybe I don't fill out that section in NC?   Thank you
