I have gone back on my return five times and put that "No" I do not have a vehicle used for business reasons. No matter how many times I do that I still cannot file my state return without answering the question of when my car was placed in service. I truly have no idea what to do at this point.
I ended up entering mine by hand, but as you say, that defeats the purpose of the program. I think I'll try someone else next year.

As per xmasbaby0 mentions above, you must wait until your return is fully processed and you have received your refund before preparing and e-filing your amended tax return.     Also, if the IRS corrects your tax return to include this Form 1099-R income, you will not have to amend it.  You will receive a Notice from the IRS if they make a correction (likely a Notice CP2000).  You only need to file an amended return if the IRS didn't catch the error and you need to pay additional tax, or if you disagree with the IRS's calculation.   You may be able to see beforehand if they are sending you a notice by accessing your IRS.gov Online account . You can use this link to access/create an online account Online account for individuals.   Once your tax return is fully processed, to amend your return using TurboTax Online you will: Log in to your TurboTax account. At your homepage, look for "Your tax returns & documents" and select the correct tax year. The you will select the "Amend (change) return" dropdown and in the dropdown choose "Amend using TurboTax Online". Follow your prompts, and select your reason for amending. Make your corrections, and make your corrections (add your interest income). Make sure to review your return before filing and then  follow the prompts to e-file or print and mail Form 1040-X to the IRS.    The IRS has a tool to determine if you should amend your tax return that provides some valuable information  Should I file an amended return?   You will be able to track your amended return using this link  Where's My Amended Return? on IRS.gov. Click here for additional information regarding filing an amended return.   Click here for additional information about e-filing your Form 1040-X.   If you have additional information or questions regarding this, please return to Community and we would be glad to help.
Thanks but I do think they could do a lot better job of explaining this!!!  I just filed and I think that field was still filled in on my form.
No, they're not all from the same bank. I ended up entering by hand, and that worked. But frustrated with TurboTax, and probably won't use again.

If you are using the TurboTax Desktop product (it sounds like you are), then you can go into Forms mode (upper right) and go to a form and right-mouse click on most any field that has a number in it. This should expose a number of options, one of which is "Data source".   Click on Data source, and a box should open which will describe where this number comes from.
Enter $1 of income and $1 of expenses on your Sch C as a work-around.  This will clear the TurboTax error and keep your QBI Loss carry forward.

Thank you @dmertz.  Better catching this now than never 🙂    Can I fill up and file the 2021 Form 8606 using TurboTax desktop  (sinceI used it to file my 2021 tax)?   I believe this 2021 Form 8606 will impact the IRA  "basis"  (currently I have that $ 4000 traditional IRA basis that was carried over from years ago).     But I  think  I'll just go ahead and I file my 2025 tax  before the tax deadline   and  file my 2021 Form 8606  later (I hope there is no deadline for this, but target to file this by this May)   then  deal with the "change in basis" in the next tax year (which would require actually editing/overriding the   IRA worksheets that will be carried over to  TurboTax  desktop version 2026).     What might be the pros and cons of it?   Again, thank you very much.

Yes, that did work, thank you!  This letter from the tax people was a surprise and I’m trying to figure out if it as an error I made, a bug in the software, or something else.

Every person and every year are different.   Only the IRS can tell you.   I got my refunds very fast this year, like 10 days.    When did you file?  If you efiled was your return Accepted?  You can check your efile status here     https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/      When you efile you get back 2 emails.  The first email only confirms the transmission.  The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.   What does the IRS say?  IRS Where's my refund      Where's My Refund? | Internal Revenue Service   Were you having the Turbo Tax fees deducted from your refund?

That's what I get for guessing on a return that I cannot see. 🙂   I take it that your original issue of the amounts in the federal column disappearing resolved itself? My test worked just fine.
