A simple formula would be box 5 minus box 1 plus $4000.

TurboTax Deluxe calculates Maryland state tax using the official 2025 Maryland tax brackets and rules. Minor differences like the $1 variance you noticed between TurboTax and Maryland iFile usually come from rounding differences or variations in how taxes are applied within income brackets. Maryland’s 2025 tax includes new progressive rates, and TurboTax incorporates those accurately. The slight difference can also arise from how fractional cents are rounded at each step or how additional taxes, like the 2% capital gains tax for high earners, are factored. A $1 difference on over $81,000 income is common and not a sign of error. Both calculations are effectively correct given minor computational nuances.

@ Jonathan-orel wrote: "I missing my federal refund but it say action required." If the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool says "action required", the IRS may be in the process of sending you a letter. If so, then often it is a letter asking a filer to ID Verify, but that's strictly a guess; it could be that they need some other information from you. So you should watch your mail closely to see if you get an IRS letter. If there was no further information at "Where's My Refund", and if you want to phone the IRS to see if they can explain why you are seeing "action required," and if you should expect a letter, here's the number: IRS: 800-829-1040 (7AM-7 PM local time) Monday-Friday

An IRA owner must calculate the RMD separately for each IRA that he or she owns, but can withdraw the total amount from one or more of the IRAs.
If you are sure that you have satisfied all RMD requirements, then in TurboTax, on your form 1099-R for RMD withdrawals, answer that The entire distribution was an RMD then on the following page, to the question What is the RMD for your account? enter the amount of the distribution from that IRA account.
By doing this, you are telling TurboTax that all RMDs are satisfied and TurboTax will not calculate any penalty. The information you entered in TurboTax is to enable TurboTax to calculate any penalty where applicable, and is not reported to the IRS.

Unfortunately they do not make it clear that you can avoid the $40 fee by paying with a credit card instead of taking it out of your refund. Quite the rip off!!!

You can't select the payment method to pay TurboTax fees from your refund if your refund amount is not enough to cover the fees. Also, this option requires e-filing, a valid U.S. address (not a PO box or commercial address), and the bank account name must match the tax return name. Currently, paying for TurboTax fees from your state tax refund is only available for certain states such as Arizona, California, and others. If your refund or situation doesn't meet these criteria, this option won't show or be selectable. Make sure your refund is sufficient and check if you meet all requirements to use this payment option in TurboTax.

If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been filed and accepted by the taxing agency, you should follow these guidelines.
You must first wait until the initial return is completely processed.
You will have to use the same TurboTax account that you used for the original tax return.
Once you begin your amendment, you'll see your original return.
The refund calculator will start new at $0 and only reflect the changes in the refund or tax due
Only make changes to the areas of your return that need to be corrected.
You have three years from the date you filed your return or two years after you paid the tax due (whichever is later) to file an amendment
Select your product below and follow the instructions.

The IRS uses your prior year AGI to combat fraud. Make sure you take into account the information below.
You can find your 2024 Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) by:
Looking at line 11 on page 1 of your 2024 Form 1040
Requesting a transcript of your 2024 tax return from the IRS. You can request your transcript online at the following link: Get Transcript
Please click on this TurboTax article for more information.
Check these items as well to ensure you have the correct number. If you:
Filed late last year after mid-November or your return was processed after that time—try entering 0.
Amended your return last year—make sure you’re using the AGI from your original return, not the amended one. (If you only have a 1040X form, it’s on line 1, column A).
Rounded your AGI to the nearest dollar—be sure to round up when it’s 50 cents or more and down when it’s 49 cents or less.
Filed with your spouse last year—you and your spouse have the same 2024 AGI. (Don’t split the AGI amount or enter 0 for one of you).
Time-saving Tip: If what you entered is correct and you continue to get a reject, you won't be able to e-file. There's probably a data mismatch at the government, or some other situation beyond your control that prevents your return from being e-filed. In this case, your only option would be to print and mail in your return.
This article will give you instruction on how to print and mail your return.

With code G in box 7, for TurboTax to treat it as a rollover to a traditional IRA, TurboTax only needs to know that the distribution was not rolled over to a Roth IRA.

Once your return is filed, TurboTax has no control over the processing or the timing when the IRS releases your refund.
The IRS states that most federal tax refunds are issued within 21 days of acceptance, however, some may take longer if they require additional review. Also, by law, the IRS cannot issue EITC or ACTC refunds before mid-February. This applies to your entire refund, not just the portion related to those specific credits.
Here are a few FAQs to help you track your refund: When will I get my federal tax refund? How do I track my state refund? Why does Where's My Refund say "approved" but TurboTax still says "accepted"?
Why do some refunds take longer than others?
What if my IRS refund is taking longer than 21 days?

It depends.
First the tuition you "paid off" must have been tuition for 2025. If it was for 2024 or earlier it is not a qualified expense for the AOC.
No, you can not us tax free "grant money" to claim the AOC. Furthermore, you can not "double dip" on tax benefits. That is, you cannot use the same amount of tuition to claim the AOC and also claim the grant to be tax free. But, declaring the grant to be partially taxable, to free up more tuition for the AOC, is usually an option.
But, you do not need a revised 1098-T to claim the AOC (generally, schools seldom issue corrected 1098-Ts).
The 1098-T is only an informational document. The numbers on it are not required to be entered onto your tax return. However receipt of a 1098-T frequently means you are either eligible for a tuition credit or possibly your student has taxable scholarship income.
If you claim the tuition credit, you do need to report that you got one.
You claim the tuition credit, or report scholarship income, based on your own financial records, not the 1098-T. In the 1098-T screen, click on the link "What if this is not what I paid the school" underneath box 1. You will then be able to enter the actual amounts paid. You will also reach a screen that allows you to adjust the scholarship amount for "amounts not awarded for 2025 expenses".
Or if you find it easier, just change the numbers in boxes 1& 5 to what your records show. The 1098-T that you enter in TT is not sent to the IRS.
