You cannot attach any document to an e-filed return.   You'll have to print out the state return, date and sign it, then mail it in.

The amount owed on your tax forms (Form 1040) when you have completed all entries is the correct amount to pay, not the initial amount. TurboTax's refund tracker changes as you enter data; and  it can display an incomplete amount until all income, deductions, and credits are fully entered and reviewed.
I'm required to include a .pdf attachment of a death certificate to file my mom's state return. Can I do that or do I need to file on paper?

I had a similar issue. When Wells Fargo sent me my 1099B, it was one copy with a foot note indicated that it's a consolidated one for three accounts. But, when I downloaded the data from Wells Fargo Bank, it only downloaded the data for one account. The worst was the data wasn't even correct!   Luckily it was for 1099B which I can easily enter manually myself. Went to bank today and they were just as puzzled as I. They told me that the bank manager was out, they will check with her and take it up with the corporate.
This is not unusual since there have historically been a number of instances where 1041 have to be completed, in part, using Forms Mode.

this is a reply to user[phone number removed] Today's date and time:  3/11/2026 @ 2:15pm   This reply is not to discredit you personally.  This is only from my current experiences.   My current Details: I have a 13" MacBook Pro, Mid 2018, 2.3gHz Quad Core i5, 8gb, 500gb Hard Drive, Sequoia 15.7.4 I currently have TurboTax 2025 Premium Desktop installed on my MacBook Pro and didn't have any issues with installing the software. I have also completed 2025 taxes for my Daughter and Son-in-law and also my Mother.... and both have already received their Federal tax refunds into their Bank Accounts.  I am currently awaiting tax documents from my Financial Institution to complete my taxes for 2025 and so far working on my taxes has not caused any issues at all.   So....  this contradicts the issues that you stated in your post.  "Mac's need to have an Apple Silicon (M1-M5) chip and then need to run Rosetta 2 in order to use the desktop version of TurboTax 2025."   I ran into the same issue you are describing way back in 2018.  The MacBook laptop that I had prior to my current MacBook would not run the latest version of TurboTax att that time...which is why I had to purchase my current MacBook Pro back then.   To be able to run the newer TurboTax.   I assume that the same is going to happen to me in the next couple of years... if not next year.... but this time I'm not as hopeful that TurboTax will have a solution if I upgrade to a newer Apple Silicon version.   Like you.....   I WILL NOT switch to the online version of TurboTax!!!   So..... I will have to cross that bridge when it gets here..... but it's not looking to promising.

1. The taxable portion of the Q is the only income and it goes on the person receiving the funds, which was the school. It seems you have no taxable distribution so there is no income to report. Tuck the Q into your tax folder. It isn't entered this year. 2. No, he did not receive the funds so it won't go on his return. 3. Yes, as long as the room and board does not exceed the amount listed for the college. For example: If the college expects off campus housing to be $xx but your student lives in a high rise luxury penthouse, the expense allowed is the $xx by the college. On campus housing, keep the receipts. Off campus housing, check the school website.   IRS Publication 970, Tax Benefits for Education states that nontaxable distributions should not be entered.

it is not a credit but a deduction that can be phased out if your adjusted gross income is to high.
This can cause a significant error that results in overpaying taxes.
Once I received the corrected 1099 from Schwab, the issue was resolved.
