Here is how you can enter your  deduction. Please ensure that your T4FHSA slip is entered correctly in the income section. Under the Notice of Assessment section, enter the information from your 2024 Notice of Assessment as requested. While you are doing the tax return, Click continue until you see the picture below. Under "How much do you want to deduct for 2025 " you can choose the amount you would like to deduct for the current year. If you prefer, you may select a smaller amount so that the remaining deduction can be carried forward and claimed in a future tax year. Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

To report your Form 1099-MISC income from a cell tower rental, it get's entered it in the rental property section of TurboTax Online. The IRS classifies income from leasing land or roof space for a cell tower as real estate rental income, which must be reported on Schedule E.   To enter this income correctly and generate Schedule E, follow these exact navigation steps: Select Federal from the left-hand menu. Select Wages & Income from the top menu bar. Scroll down to the Rentals, Royalties, and Farm section and select Show more to expand the list. Select Start or Revisit next to Rental Properties and Royalties (Sch E). Proceed through the interview screens to set up the cell tower lease as a new rental property (if you have not already done so). You will classify the property type as "Land" or "Commercial" depending on what specifically is being leased. When you reach the income section for this specific property, TurboTax will ask if your income was reported on Form 1099-MISC. Select Yes. Enter the cell tower rental income exactly as it appears in Box 1 (Rents) on your physical Form 1099-MISC. Select Continue to save the entry.

If I had known TT was no longer including It's Deductible, I would not have used it this year.  This is SOOOOOO aggravating.  And if you haven't listened to the Podcast on how TT has essentially created the world of having to pay to even file taxes while pretending it is helping taxpayers, it's definitely worth a listen to.

Hi Thomas, not quite. I figured it out. One has to click "foreign address" under the basic info of the property and click "our property is outside of the US" under the Rental Porperty Info. As a result it pulls either 40 years (for properties put into service prior to 2018) or 30 yrs for put into service after 2018. Thank you, though.

My first attempt was rejected, so I redid it the next day. I have not received a message that it was accepted this time.

One last follow-up about the zip code INACCURACY on the MI-1040CR Homestead Tax Credit form.  While I had been given a free Desktop program to use, I've since discovered that the zip code is still pulled in inaccurately on that form, just like it did in the Online premium version (note: the Retention Dept specialist had me confirm the zip code in the wrong spot using the Desktop program, when we were only the phone; thus me previously thinking it was pulling in correctly... in my last message posted in this thread).     The work-around using the Desktop program is to enter only the 5-digit zip code in the "My Info" section at the beginning; then the zip code will be accurate on ALL forms (since just using the 5-digit zip code).   Geesh...  seems to never end...

Were these excess HSA contributions the result of contributions through an employer? i.e., in box 12 with a code of W on your W-2?   if you don't mind me asking, how old are you, like are you 19-24 and a full-time student?   Without this excess HSA contribution being added back (I presume to line 8f on Schedule 1 (1040)), would you be required to file form 8615 otherwise?
This does not help at all.

@bryce_in_tx wrote: What do you think? Is my thinking on this reasonable?  It's probably reasonable but not because of the appraisal in 2022 or the local tax assessor's valuation (which is solely for property tax purposes), but because the house was sold a short time after your MIL's death.   Regardless, the IRS only is required to accept a date of death appraisal for proof of fair market value.
