MY DEPENDENT SAID HE COULD NOT BE CLAIMED   Your dependent made a very common mistake often made by teenagers and students who are filing their first tax returns.  In MY INFO they should have said that they can be claimed as someone else’s dependent—-but they answered incorrectly and now your e-file is being rejected.   Your dependent will have to amend their return to change the way they answered that question in MY INFO.   They cannot amend until their return has been fully processed.   But you do not have to wait for them to amend.  Waiting will not help you at all.   You can file your return by mail, since mailed returns are not rejected.   It will take longer for the IRS to process your mailed return and delay your refund.   OR….Get an IP PIN to e-file.     GET IP pin in order to e-file if your dependent’s SSN was claimed on another return   https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-takes-steps-to-help-prevent-refund-delays-by-accepting-duplicate-dependent-returns-with-an-ip-pin-for-2025-filing-season-taxpayers-encouraged-to-sign-up-soon-for-ip-pin-online-account     https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/get-an-identity-protection-pin

Here is how to report your Social Security income since there is no tax treaty convention with Croatia.   Go to Federal -> Wages & Income. Scroll to the very bottom: Less Common Income. Select Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C. Choose Other reportable income. Enter a description like: "Croatian Social Security (Foreign Pension)" and the USD amount. This will now appear on Line 8z (Other Income) in Schedule 1 You will see the description you typed (e.g., "Croatian Social Security") and the amount. it will also be included on line 10 of your 1040.

Perhaps your MAGI is too high to permit a Roth IRA contribution or you are entering a Roth IRA contribution that exceeds net earnings.  Net earnings are net profit minus the deductible portion of self-employment taxes.   Also make sure that you are not contributing more as a Roth 401(k) contribution than permitted.  My experience is that TurboTax does not check to see if a Roth 401(k) contribution exceeds net earnings from self-employment, it only checks to see if traditional plus Roth elective deferrals exceed the $23,500 limit for 2025.

Received message below, so frustrated. Some tax forms required for your return are still being finalized Due to recent government updates to Capital Cost Allowance (CCA), some of your forms aren't ready for filing yet. We're working hard to keep up with the latest CRA/RQ requirements, and we'll email you when filing becomes available in early March 2026. We know your time is valuable, and we apologize for the wait. For more information, see our FAQ.   Can you guys clarify which date, you will make T2125 available online?  T2125 Statement of Business or Professional Activities

I finally got it to resolve today.  These are the steps I had to take:   uninstall McAfee log into my Intuit account and register my software key reboot in safe mode run TurboTax as administrator  Ridiculous to have to go through this for a product that  used to install from a CD in one step.  The error message was laughable - not being able to connect to the internet.  The first thing it did before attempting to register my key was to download and install updates.

The $1,500 add back is correct.  The South Carolina Department of Revenue confirmed in Information Letter #26-4, revised January 12, 2026, that taxpayers must add back several federal deductions when calculating state taxes. This includes the exclusion of qualified tips and overtime pay, passenger vehicle loan interest deductions, and enhanced standard deductions that increased by $750 for single filers and $1,500 for married couples filing jointly under federal law.  Hopefully you haven't filed your South Carolina return yet.  If you have, you can expect an adjust by the SC DOR.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.      First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.     You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds   To track your state refund:     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr   If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh . https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst         If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act.  Do not expect your refund before early March   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/internal-revenue-service/federal-refunds-delayed-due-path-act/L5jnQJsBi_US_en_US   Note:  “Accepted” is not the same as “approved”.  TurboTax tells you the e-file was accepted if the IRS deems that there is enough information on the return for them to take it in for processing.   Only the IRS can approve of the refund, which is a later stage of processing.  If the IRS approves your refund they will provide a date for the refund to be issued.   FROM THE IRS WHERE’S MY REFUND SITE: https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund How it works Where's My Refund shows your refund status: Return Received – We received your return and are processing it. Refund Approved – We approved your refund and are preparing to issue it by the date shown. Refund Sent – We sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail. It may take 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.

My experience with web based turbotax is horrible. I upload files, and they don't appear in my list of files. Or I get the files uploaded and they disappear the next time I log in. My deductions equal about half the standard deduction but TurboTax decided I should itemize my deductions which doesn't make sense AT ALL. When I went to review my 1099's it took one of my 1099's and listed it 5 times adding each of the duplicated 1099's to my total income then calculating I owed thousands of dollars. What the heck. Did Intuit fire all their programmers and ask AI to rewrite their website?
It can happen, but usually only if you did not select direct deposit or another method from TurboTax.   @xmasbaby0  has lots of good information to help you.

To clarify. Were you able to eventually receive the credit?
The tax withholdings on your wife's W-2 would not be added back to your AGI because that amount is already included in AGI.  Tax withholding is not deducted from income to calculate AGI.
