Normally you would find state depreciation entries in the state section of TurboTax. Without knowing which state you are filing for, I can't be more specific than to encourage you to go back and review your state entries and look for a reference to the rental property sale. If that is not helpful, you can try reviewing your asset sale entries in the federal section of TurboTax.   You would report the sale of rental property in the federal section of TurboTax. You need to go to the asset entry screen where you indicated that you sold the property and then entered the sales proceeds and any costs of sale. You can try updating that section and look for the errant entry. You would do that by going to the rental section of TurboTax and updating the rental income and expenses. You will need to find the Review your (name of rental) Rental Summary screen. Choose the option that says Sale of Property/Depreciation and update that section as needed.

I received the following error when efiling a trust return. This is the first time I've had this. Do I just need to wait for an update like it says? Or is there something else I could do proactively?   Let's Take a Look at Your Return Description of error: Form 1116 present in the return, then at least one of the following: If there is only one instance of Form 1116 present in the return, then at least one of the following must have a value within it: 'ForeignIncomeSection951ACrAmt' or 'ForeignBranchIncomeCrAmt' or 'ForeignPassiveIncTaxCreditAmt' or 'ForeignGeneralIncTaxCreditAmt' or 'ForeignIncSection901jCrAmt' or 'ForeignIncomeRsrcdTreatyCrAmt' or 'ForeignIncLumpSumDistribCrAmt' or 'TentativeForeignTaxCreditAmt'. What needs to be done: This electronic filing reject is the result of a defect in the tax program. This reject will be corrected in a future electronic release.

This is not a TurboTax specific issue but an issue that can occur when you import multiple statements from the same source. If you have a single broker for multiple accounts, when selecting to import another account for the same broker:    Clear cache and cookies  and then search for your broker. This should allow the screen to input account information and import the data.   If you get two accounts / statements close to the same time, log out of the brokerage site after importing the first one and wait to start another import session. @ojm1

I was a dependent on my parents' return last year but my SSN was apparently used to file a federal refund. I received notification the IRS put an identity theft indicator on my SSN so now I need to use an IP PIN to file, which I obtained online. When completing my 2025 form 1040, the online site also filled out form 14039 and it asks for the last tax return year filed. Since 2025 is my first year for my own return, I left it blank. But the online site would not let my return pass review saying the year needs to be filled out. So I put in 2025 but then in review it said it needs to be left blank. I've tried this multiple times, it goes back and forth and can't get past this to e-file. Is this a bug with the online version?
I am trying to claim Indiana's 50% credit for Habitat for Humanity donation. Googling suggests it's under Attainable Homeownership credit. But i cannot find this in turbotax.
Line 13b says $6000.  Line 11b is $100,252. We are 69 and 70 years old.

If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been filed and accepted by the taxing agency, you should follow these guidelines.      You must first wait until the initial return is completely processed. This means waiting until the payment submitted with the tax return has been processed, or your refund has been received.  You will have to use the same TurboTax account that you used for the original tax return.  Once you begin your amendment, you'll see your original return.   The refund calculator will start new at $0 and only reflect the changes in the refund or tax due  Only make changes to the areas of your return that need to be corrected.  You have three years from the date you filed your return or two years after you paid the tax due (whichever is later) to file an amendment
Can you confirm that I should enter $0 exactly as shown on the transcript? If that doesn’t work, what is the correct alternative method to pass IRS identity verification?

Thank you for your feedback.  You mentioned there could be a loss.  Though I have not lived there for decades, it is still a personal residence that a couple of my still siblings live in.  Do the tax rules allow me to take a loss in those circumstances?
How do I fix this err

You have me thinking differently now. The program is working. The first form, shows the dividends on line 12 - refund $1146. The next form shows a zero on line 12 exempt dividends and the refund is higher. This does not make sense at first look. Let's go deeper. Look at your 1099-DIV box 13, maybe some of it is not exempt due to AMT. Social security benefits change the taxable amount due to the increased income In Forms mode look at the changes and compare: check line 2a is correct exempt interest and not on line 2b line 6b, taxable social security benefits - is that changing? form 6251, AMT - alternative minimum tax, look at line 2g form 1040, line 16 - if your taxable income did not go up, it could be a reduction in credit, like EIC or CTC, or it was AMT
