I have similar issue. I have heat pump installed line 29 a has QMID and cost of installation No other cost associated with panel or electrical work. 2000 credit is calculated.   Submitted form and got rejected.  Email with rejection does not give any code.  The following is the message.   /Return/ReturnData/IRS5695/EgyEffcntHmImprvCrGrp/EnablingPropertyGrp/PanelboardCktFeederStdPctCrAmt - There is a potential issue with the calculation regarding Form 5695, Energy Efficient Home Improvement section, Enabling Property on the Federal return   Opened TT (desktop) and checked status.  It also says return was rejected.  Let's fix error.  When I let TT fix error, nothing is being changed.  It says ready to file (I thought may be it fixed something without me changing anything) and upon re-filing, I got the same error.   My 5695 where this data was used is shown below:   Any idea, what is the reason?  Last year, there were few messages and someone pointed that Joint occupancy needs to be unchecked on top of 5695.  I do not have that box checked (Married filing jointly).   Please help me with this issue.  I am paying significant penalty for under-withholding so sooner the better. Thanks.

The deduction for personal property taxes in TurboTax is in the Deductions and Credits section, then Cars and other things you own, then Personal Property Taxes. There is a "learn more" pop-up as you mention that says you can deduct personal property taxes if they are assessed annually are based on the value of the property. I believe it is in the section for Cars and other things as the tax is normally only applicable to vehicles.

Well the update today allowed me to enter room and board expenses. After doing that the figure for total expenses on the interview summary was correct but the expenses on the 1099-Q worksheet in forms was exactly $10,000 less. I added one dollar to room and board to see what would happen and sure enough on the form it went up by one dollar minus $10k. This results in TT still thinking some of my 529 distribution is taxable and none of it should be taxable.   I'm going to just delete my TT file and start all over and see what happens.   In another thread I saw someone complaining that all looked good until they e-filed and then TT removed the expenses again. I can't verify that but I would say be very careful before you file and make sure TT isn't creating taxable income it shouldn't be.   Aaaargh.

TurboTax Desktop offers "Forms Mode" to view/edit forms directly, up to five Efiled returns for one price, and better data privacy as files are stored locally. TurboTax Online is better for convenience, allowing access from any device, but charges per return and stores data on Intuit's servers.    TurboTax Desktop (Download/CD) Best for: Complex returns, multiple tax returns (investors, small business owners), and privacy-conscious users. Features: Features a "Forms Mode" to directly view and edit tax forms. Cost/Returns: Higher initial cost, but allows for unlimited federal returns. TurboTax Online  Best for: Simple returns, convenience, and users who prefer a "guided" interview experience. Features: No "Forms Mode." You can only view the final 1040 form before paying. Cost/Returns: Lower cost, but you must pay for each return filed. Storage: Data is stored on Intuit's secure servers. Access: Access from any browser or mobile app Here's more info on Desktop vs. Online.   @MountainGuy16
Started TT but got a pop-up asking for another license code - although it shows I have 5 licenses and only 1 in use.  This just started with today's update.  Now, I can't get TT started.  Any ideas?

The issue is usually the THR: Total household resources (THR) are the total income (taxable and nontaxable) of both spouses or of a single person maintaining a household.  Check to see if you have nontaxable income like Social Security or a pension that could be pushing you over the limit.   2025 Homestead Property Tax Credit Information states: Maximum Taxable Value $165,400 Total Household Resources (THR) Limit $71,500 Phase-out begins when Total Household Resources exceeds $62,500 Credit Limit $1,900

I assume you are referring to your federal Schedule A, the "State and local income taxes" line (Line 5a).     This amount consists of: the amount of Missouri state tax taken out of your paychecks throughout 2025, listed in Box 17 of your Form(s) W-2. any local income taxes you had withheld, usually listed in Box 19 of your W-2. any estimated tax payments you made to the Missouri Department of Revenue during 2025.  any portion of your 2024 refund that you chose to apply toward your 2025 taxes. any payment you made when you filed your 2024 Missouri state return and paid that balance in 2025.

I may have identified the problem with QBI not transferring to the QBI Deduction Worksheet.   The "Qualified Business Income Deduction Smart Worksheet" in Schedule C is showing the correct "Allowable QBI after loss limits" on Line 4c, but Line 5a (next line - "Total self-employed deductions") transposes the same exact amount ("Allowable QBI"), resulting in Line 5b, "Schedule C profit (loss) after S.E. deductions" to equal zero. All of the lines after 5b, therefore, show 0.   The actual S.E. deduction amount from Schedule SE Line 13, "Deduction for one-half of self employment tax" has not transferred to Line 5a.

This is a volunteer public discussion group with some participation by TT staff. We do not have access to your information to verify anything. You could provide the information needed for a volunteer to review (your age, total value of retirement plans on 12/31/2024 (assuming tax year 2025 RMD), and if it is an inherited plan or your own plan).  It doesn't count as inherited if you inherited it from your spouse and rolled it over into your own name.   Or perhaps it would be quicker if you just tried one of the many Internet RMD calculators, such as: https://www.schwab.com/ira/ira-calculators/rmd

My first State return rejected due on the 24th because of the missing Turbotax update.  I downloaded the update today and refiled and it still rejected with the same error (see below).   Description of error: Your Wisconsin tax return has not been e-filed successfully due to changes related to Wisconsin's retirement income. What needs to be done: Your Wisconsin return wasn't submitted yet. We're updtating Turbo Tax for a recent change ot Wisconsin's retirement income section. The update will be available on February 26, 2026. On or after that date, please log in and ensure your product has been updated (online versions update automatically). Make any changes based on the following guidlines, complete a final review and resubmit your return.   1.  If all of your retirement income is from qualified plans -- like a 401(K), 403(b), or government pension -- you can simply review and resubmit.  Most workplace retirement plans are qualified. 2.  If you have retirement income from a non-qualified plan (uncommon), go to Retirement Benefits Adjustments and follow the steps to update your amounts before resubmitting.   We truly apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused.   I also read on the Wisconsin Revenue website that there is no income cap (see below). Does the new retirement income subtraction decrease or phase out based on the individual's overall income? No, the retirement income subtraction under sec. 71.05(6)(b)54m., Wis. Stats., does not have an overall income limitation or phase out.   If the update I received this morning is not the fix, when will the correct update be released?

You don't need to print and mail, you can e-file your return.   A California Secretary of State (SOS) file number is a minimum of 7 digits long, a maximum of 12 digits long, and can only contain the numbers 0-9. If the SOS number contains a letter (such as "B") that letter should NOT be entered - only enter the numbers.
Same thing. Went trough all the steps. Rejected a third time.
