What does invalid method of payment value for tbm feature mean?   This statement may appear if you chose to pay your TurboTax fee from your refund, or another method of payment that was not accepted. It could mean that the refund was not enough to cover the fees, bank account information is not correct, or another method of payment is needed.   Try choosing a different method of payment, or double-check to confirm that the payment information was entered correctly. If you chose to pay with your refund, check to confirm whether the refund is larger than the fees. See also this help article for more information.
How did you resolve it? I cannot get to the schedule 1 sheet.

I'm being told I need to upgrade from the free version because I need to file form 8959. I file jointly with my husband and we make under $250,000. I checked the medicare tax withholding on both of my W2's and they are exactly 1.45% of the medicare wages and tips. My husband i retired and there is no withholding tax for him. THIS IS VERY frustrating!!!
I tried Forms Mode, but lines 2.b(1) and 2.b(2) are not editable (highlighted in yellow).

It is automatic based on your age. It is not part of your Standard Deduction. The new Senior Deduction is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e. The 6,000/12,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b with any other sch 1-A amounts. Turbo Tax automatically includes it if you qualify. If you are married you have to file a Joint return.
For Online version You can preview the 1040 or print the whole return https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/accessing/help/how-do-i-preview-my-turbotax-online-return-before-filing/00/26160 See the 1040……. ,.
Because my donation was valued over $500, Turbo Tax is asking more questions and I'm not sure how to answer.

The 5329 will be generated automatically once you have entered the information from your early retirement withdrawal.   You should have received a 1099-R with information regarding the withdrawal.   Here is how to report the 1099-R in TurboTax Online:   Navigate to Federal > Wages & Income > IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R) Add/Edit • Add a 1099-R Follow the interview to either import or manually type in the 1099-R

Box 12 is informational only.  Since there isn't a dropdown for code TT currently, enter all of the other information from your W-2. Continue through the interview and you will be asked if you have any uncommon situations, including overtime. Select that you have the uncommon situation of overtime, then a series of questions will be generated.   On the screen "Let's see if your overtime qualifies as tax-free," select "No help needed—I know what to enter." You'll then be asked if you are an exempt or not an exempt employee (exempt employees are not eligible for the overtime deduction).  Now, you can enter the deductible overtime.   Here is an article you may find helpful: No Tax on Overtime Explained: Qualified Overtime Deduction Rules for 2025

You can preview your return before filing to find out how your taxes were calculated. See here for details. You can also view the Tax Summary under Tools on the left-side menu in TurboTax Online.   If you are using TurboTax Online, and the program is "stuck" on a screen, try the following basic troubleshooting steps:   Check your Internet connection. Hardwired connections work best. Try logging out and logging back in again. Try using a different browser. Chrome generally works well. Try restarting your device. Try clearing your cache and cookies.     If after trying all of the options mentioned you still have the same problem:   See this help article and this one for instructions on how to contact TurboTax customer support depending on which product you are using.

My relative has dementia and resides in the memory care unit of an assisted living facility in NJ.  Her mailing address is in PA with her sibling who is her POA/Trustee/etc. All of her mail and her tax documents show PA as her state of residence including Social Security, 1099-INTs, 1099-R and State Tax Withholding, etc.  If she ever left the NJ facility, she would be relocated to PA.  Do I file a NJ Resident return for her but with No Income or Deductions and a PA Non-Resident return with all the Income and Deductions - or - just file a PA Resident return?
