Once your state tax return is submitted through TurboTax, you cannot make changes to it while it is pending. You must wait for the return to be officially accepted or rejected. If your return is accepted, you will need to amend the state return to make changes. If it is rejected, you can correct the reason for the rejection and include the desired changes before resubmitting.

Please clarify if this is a regular pension you are receiving.
If you would like to send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information it would help. If you would like to do this, here are the instructions: (Don't forget to give us the state)
TurboTax Online:
Open your return -Go to the menu panel on the left side of your return and select Tax Tools.
Then select Tools below Tax Tools.
A window will pop up which says Tools Center.
On this screen, select Share my file with Agent.
You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is. Click okay through this screen and then you will get a Token number.
Reply to this thread with your Token number and your state. This will allow us to open a copy of your return without seeing any personal information.
TurboTax Desktop:
If you like, you can send a copy of your return that will be scrubbed to eliminate your personal data by using these steps:
Click on Online in the top left menu of TurboTax Desktop for Windows
Select 'Send Tax File to Agent'* > Follow the prompts to reach the token number.
Enter your email used for TurboTax > Enter your code > Send
Write down or send an image of your token number and state then place in this issue.
We can then review your exact scenario for a solution.
Please also tell us any states included in the return. This is necessary for us to view the return.
*If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, 'Send Tax File to Agent')
We will be able to see exactly what you are seeing and we can determine what exactly is going on in your return to provide you with a resolution.

It says my refund is not taxable but I didn't want to miss this box if it's supposed to go somewhere. Thanks!

If you look at the answer just before your question, you will find that is how to do it. At least according to that individual. I tried it and it worked. Turbotax does have the place later where you can make sure it is excluded from New York State income so it is not taxable in New York. Click on "Credits and Other Taxes". The first item on the next screen is "Inflation Refund Check". Click on that to enter the amount of your check. That is how it is excluded from you New York taxable income.

However Turbo Tax did it, after I checked the box for Self on line 1, it assumed I was able to make HSA contributions, which then flushed my carryover amount as a contribution in 2025. Also, there was no Form 5329 at that point for a penalty. That said, during a conversation with a Turbo Tax customer service rep, I was shown how to open Forms under the View menu. While exploring that, I saw the contribution Worksheet and checked no HDHP box which then zeroed out the eligible contributions previously shown after checking Self on Line 1. Then I checked Self again on Line 1 and the carryover amount remained and Form 5329 was filled out with the correct penalty. Thank you for your reply to my question!

The current tax year has introduced some strict informational requirements, specifically related to Qualified Manufacturer ID (QMID) numbers for some equipment, as well as statements related to joint occupancy property.
Because of this, the IRS is currently rejecting certain returns with the Form 5695. The IRS is scheduled to begin accepting these returns on February 14, 2026. We recommend waiting until then to resubmit your return to avoid another rejection.

Trying to import my Quickbooks files to TurboTax Business 2025. I have Quickbooks Desktop ProPlus 2023 and Windows 11. Website says it is compatible. The message I get when trying to transfer the files is: It looks like we don’t support Quickbooks Pro 2023(Version 33.0) with this version of TurboTax. Please use Quickbooks 2024. Does anyone have suggestions to get this fixed? Thanks

Thank you for the answer. I put $0 for "Required Amount (First Tier)" and the entire distribution in "Other Amount (Second Tier)" and it seemed to pass thru correctly to the K-1's.

This is a long story, but in summary Intuit never asked me for a password and logged me into the wrong Intuit account (not the account I entered and not the account to which they sent the 2FA code). Is Intuit's login process really safe and trustworthy if it's capable of this kind of screw up? A less important question: TurboTax Premier 2025 for my personal taxes is now associated with my business Intuit account. Inconvenient but not catastrophic. Is there was way to move the license from the account that Intuit logged me into to the account that I asked Intuit to log me into? Background: I have two Intuit accounts, a personal account and an account for my business. The accounts are associated with different email addresses and have unique passwords and credit cards associated with them. Both use the same mailing address (my one person business operates out of our house) and phone number. I'm using Windows 11 for both, and on the computer I have an administrator account that is separate from both the personal and business (non-administrator) accounts. Yesterday I installed TurboTax Premium 2025 on my computer to get ready for my 2025 personal taxes. My business taxes have already been prepared using TurboTax Business 2025. I downloaded the executable from InstallTurboTax.com and launched it. It asked for administrator rights and I entered the administrator password. After several minutes TurboTax was installed and it asked if I wanted to launch the program. I clicked yes (in hindsight, a mistake). TurboTax immediately asked me to log into my Intuit account by asking me for the account name. I entered my personal email address. Instead of asking me for the password Intuit sent a 2FA code to my personal email address which I entered (is it really a 2FA code when there is no first factor?). Intuit then sent a second 2FA code to my phone which I also entered. And then I was logged into my business account - not the account that I had entered into TurboTax. I saved the 2FA email and have checked it several times: it was sent to my personal email address. Once I was logged in I entered the license code, Intuit accepted it, and the program was running. I then tried to import my 2024 taxes and discovered that TurboTax was running under the administrator account and was therefor unable to access the documents in my personal account. I then shut down TurboTax and launched it again but without administrator rights. Again TurboTax asked for my Intuit account, and again I entered my personal email address. Instead of asking for a password Intuit sent a 2FA code to my personal email address which I entered. This was followed by a 2FA code to my phone which I also entered. And then I was logged into my personal Intuit account (the one I intended) and asked for the license code. When I entered it, it was refused because it's already in use. After an hour talking with support (lots of ideas, but no joy) and another hour exploring alternatives (uninstall, reinstall, and more) I looked carefully and discovered that while my personal Windows account was logged into my personal Intuit account, the Windows administrator account was logged into my business Intuit account. Logging out of my personal Intuit account and then logging into the business account now allows me to run TurboTax from my user (non-administrator) Windows account. At this point I dug out all of the emails that Intuit sent to me and carefully checked the addresses (multiple times!). Everyone of the 2FA emails from Intuit was sent to my personal email address, nothing at all was sent to my business email address, yet somehow the first time I was logged into my business account and the second time I was logged into my personal account. I was never asked for a password for either account. Is Intuit's login process really safe and trustworthy if it's capable of this kind of screw up? Is there some way to fix the result of Intuit's login error or will I have to live with using my business Intuit account for the rest of my use of TurboTax 2025?

From How do I track my New York tax refund?
You can track it at the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance Check Refund Status page. You don't need an Online Services account to use the Check Refund Status page.
The state will ask you to enter the exact amount of your expected refund in whole dollars. You can find this by signing in to TurboTax. If you're using the mobile app, you may need to scroll down to find your refund amount.
The refund date you'll see doesn't include the days your financial institution may take to process a direct deposit or a paper check may take in the mail. If you're concerned, contact the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance.
The Internal Revenue Service only processes your federal tax return and refund, not your state return.

I'm in CA and have Vanguard funds. I manually enter mine so I don't know if the import picks up all the right amounts for US Govt Obligations. I have to make a spreadsheet to calculate the amounts each year. Vanguard used to include the extra sheets with the 1099 statement but now you have to get them online to see which funds you can exclude and how much. I go though and circle all my funds. Tax information for Vanguard Funds https://investor.vanguard.com/investor-resources-education/taxes/funds-tax-information You probably need these 2 …. US government obligations income information https://investor.vanguard.com/content/dam/retail/publicsite/en/documents/taxes/USGO_012025.pdf Tax-exempt interest dividends by state https://investor.vanguard.com/content/dam/retail/publicsite/en/documents/taxes/INBST_022025.pdf Here's the sheet I make every year for my Vanguard in California. You have to get the Dividend for each fund by looking at the detail page from the Consolidated 1099. Don't know what funds you can include for MA. Not all mine have 50% assets in California. You have to read the little footnotes in the US government pdf.

Turbotax Premier, Desktop. Income Section Pensions, IRA etc. Turbotax forces me to enter the RMD amount included in the pension payout, Whatt??? When I bypass the subjet it doesn't give the RMD entries and skips it all together. Have been using Turbotax for a long time. This software is very buggy. I think TT decided that it's customers can do it's Quality Control, so they can get rid off their QC department and hopefully the customers start subscribing to all the other payable options to get thru it.

Yes, the question of who you inherited the IRA from is very important, as the rules for distributions are different. You will want to check to make sure that you made the correct withdrawals and correct if necessary. Because she inherited it from her sister, she is a non-spouse beneficiary. You should check "Someone other than a spouse."
If you check "Spouse," the software may not trigger the correct RMD or could incorrectly allow you to treat it as a personal IRA (which is not correct).
If the sister passed before 2020, your wife can continue taking RMDs based on her life expectancy for as long as the account lasts. In most cases, the entire account must be emptied by the end of the 10th year following the death if the sister passed in 2020 or later.
