If your 2025 Federal 1040 income tax return has already been submitted and accepted, you should not have to amend just to submit IRS form 8379 Injured Spouse Allocation.  IRS form 8379 Instructions state:   File Form 8379 when you become aware that all or part of your share of an overpayment was, or is expected to be, applied (offset) against your spouse's legally enforceable past-due obligations. You must file Form 8379 for each year you meet this condition and want your portion of any offset refunded.    You must file Form 8379 within 3 years from the due date of the original return (including extensions) or within 2 years from the date you paid the tax that was later offset, whichever is later. Certain circumstances described in section 6511 may extend this period.   If you need assistance completing the form, you may want to contact a tax professional for assistance.    TurboTax Help may be found here.   [Edited 02/25/2026 | 3:33 PM PST] @rossamanda15

Gifts given to family members, friends or other individuals are not deductible.   Gifts received are not taxable to the person who received the gift, and are not entered on a tax return.   If your gift exceeds the yearly limit ($19,000 per individual)  imposed by the gift tax rules, then you will need to complete a Form 709 gift tax form and send it to the IRS, although it is very unlikely that you will owe any tax.   TurboTax does not support Form 709.  It is not an income tax form and would not be included as part of an income tax return.   Here is a link to the form: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f709.pdf   https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tips/estates/the-gift-tax-made-simple/L5tGWVC8N     Here's a link for Form 709 preparation software:  https://www.puritas-springs.com/product-category/federal   Here are some useful videos on the Form:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5wJow5h-No   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Z_28sVOrTY

You do not "add" schedules or forms with online TurboTax.  You do not have direct access to forms or schedules.   But if you enter something that goes on 1A, the deduction that results will show up on line 13b of your Form 1040.    The things that might show up are the senior deduction, tips, overtime, or new car loan interest.    The senior deduction is added automatically; the others mentioned must be entered on the interview screens for your W-2 or for the car loan.

I just successfully e-filed my GA 700/1065 forms. I tried earlier this morning and received the same error as before. I had also checked that my program was up to date this morning, which it was. I simply went back into the TT program after 1800 ET (6pm) , which was still open on my PC,  and hit transmit. Bingo it worked.   My bet is the problem was on TT's back-end/gateway that handles the  e-filing as nothing changed on my PC between for the past couple of days. I didn't even have to close and reopen TT.    I just checked here: https://form-status.app.intuit.com/tax-forms-availability/formsavailability?albRedirect=true&product=Turbotax_online&bu=cg and the page now shows the forms are ready.    Good luck. Please report back if you can e-file to give others an idea whether this was a random event for me or if TT has resolved the problem without informing us.

However, if you do pay off the child's loan using your funds it can be considered a gift.  You can give up to $19,000 to anyone without any consequence, however, if you give more than that amount to anyone you will need to file a Form 709 Gift Tax Return.  If you are married, both you and your spouse could give up to $19,000 each to help paying off the loan without needing to file the Form 709.  If you do need to file the Form 709, there won't be any tax consequence, but the amounts you donate will be counted against the lifetime exemption limit of $15,000,000.

The fee for the "5 day early" refund is $35, so it seems unlikely that choosing that option suddenly cost you an extra $400.    Where are you seeing that amount?     How can I see my TurboTax  fees?  https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/intuit-account-billing/review-fees-turbotax-online/L1XnIzgzg_US_en_US?uid=m682vq7k   Did you already e-file?   If you have not e-filed, you can back out of that option by going back  through the FILE section.   If you already e-filed you are stuck with "5 days early" if the return is accepted.  If it rejects you can try to remove that option in the FILE section before you re-file.       "5 days early" means you are supposed to receive your federal refund from one to five days sooner than the refund date shown on the IRS refund site.   If it does not meet that "at least one day sooner" date, they are supposed to refund the $35 fee.   You have to pay attention to the date on the IRS refund site. You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds
