I'm using the desktop program and when I go to import 1099's it requires me to log in to my intuit account which involves a captcha. I am certain I am completing them correctly but it just keeps saying to try again. I am not using the website, but i have gone ahead and disable add block on my browser and cleared my cache anyways and still no luck. I do not use a vpn. I have restarted my computer. Nothing has worked. Is there anything I can do to fix this? or do I just have to hope for an update to the software?
If i didn't file last year taxes How can I do it this year.
I've run through the section five times, Turbotax seems to get close to the total tax I will owe, but I can't enter the taxes already withheld.

If your social security is not being taxed properly in TurboTax you can try deleting your Form(s) SSA-1099 and reentering them. You can follow the instructions listed below to easily get to those screens in TurboTax.   Your age does not directly affect how much of your Social Security is taxed. The taxable amount is based entirely on your total income, including your Social Security Income and your other income reported.     In general, your Social Security income is not taxed if your combined income—(defined as your Adjusted Gross Income plus your non-taxable interest plus one- half of your total Social Security benefits)—is below $25,000 for single taxpayers and $32,000 for taxpayers filing as married filing jointly.   The new $6,000 "senior deduction" for those 65+ (for Tax Years 2025–2028) may also reduce your tax liability.  For the 2025–2028 tax years, there is a new, temporary "$6,000/$12,000" senior bonus deduction that was made available under the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB). TurboTax will calculate this deduction automatically based on your date of birth.    This "senior deduction" is in addition to the standard deduction for being 65 PLUS, as long as your Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) is below $175,000 for single taxpayers and $350,000 for taxpayers filing as Married Filing Jointly.  Phase-out for this deduction begins at $75,000 for single taxpayers and $150,000 for taxpayers filing as married filing jointly.   You can get to your TurboTax screens to delete your Form(s) SSA-1099 or make corrections to your entries if necessary, as follows: Click on Search at the top right of your TurboTax screen Type "Form SSA-1099" in the search box Click on the link "Jump to Form SSA-1099" This will take you to your TurboTax screens where you enter your Form(s) SSA-1099.   Click here for What is the new tax law for the senior deduction?   Click here for When Does a Senior Citizen on Social Security Stop Filing Taxes? I'm having the same error show up. I'm ready to file, but Turbo Tax keeps directing me back to the caculation for taxable social security benefits based on receiving a lump sum benefit in prior years. The message is:"Earlier year taxable social security benefits for taxpayer should not be more than $12471, 85% of the sum on Line B, earlier year SSA or RRB benefits for the taxpayer and spouse." Line B is the adjustments/exclusions claimed.  However, the 85% should apply to social benefits, not adjustments/exclusions.  I've gone through the Earlier YearTax Return Smart Worksheet in TurboTax and everything checks out, but I keep getting the error.

You need to enter your energy furnishings and equipment expenses in TurboTax to determine the amount of an energy credit you may qualify for. You do that in the Deductions and Credits section, then Your Home, then Home energy credits. The maximum credit for windows is $600 and for water heaters is $2,000, but your credit may be less.   Your potential credit depends on many factors such as the type of property purchased, your income and your tax liability. From 5695 will be generated in TurboTax based on your entry in the program.   You can learn more in the IRS article.   [Edited 2/16/26 at 12:43PM PST] @rogersjen917
You will find your State and Local Income taxes deduction on your Schedule A, Line 5a.
This is happening to me too! Must be a glitch but what do we do??
Adding this is quite easy in paper filing by adding the results of form 5329 to Schedule 2 line 8. I cannot get TurboTax 2025 to allow for this entry.

Like many others I get nervous not reporting if I get a form that says "the information is being furnished to the IRS"  Also I'm sure most of us got a 1098-T for the tuition.....so if we skip adding that as well feels like red flags at IRS may go off?
I have my 1099s from UBS however when I go to import them, it says they will not be available until February 28.

After connecting to your broker to import a 1099-B, after the 'import successful' message, click into Wages & Income > Import Summary to verify.  Continue does take you to another import session, as you mentioned.     If no documents are shown, you may have connected, but no data may be import-ready to be downloaded.  Make sure your broker account is 'third party enabled' and you have disabled your anti-virus programs.  Before attempting to import again, close the program, clear your Cache and Cookies and go to 'Add Investments' to step through the import process again.   Remember that the IRS already has copies of all your 1099's, so using the Summary Method in your tax return is perfectly acceptable.    @David_Tax_Help
If I amend the 2024 return to report the excess roth contribution, would I also need to amend my state return?
