Yes, you are correct, TurboTax Online updates for new tax laws and other features, but they are done automatically in your web browser. You do not have to manually update like in TurboTax desktop software.     If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can manually check for updates for  your TurboTax program by clicking on "Online" in the black bar near the top of your screen and selecting "Check for Updates."

To make changes on a filed tax return, you must amend the return.   The Form 1040-X for amending a 2025 federal tax return is estimated to be available in TurboTax on 03/04/2026   An amended return, Form 1040-X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 20 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return. Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS. He has filed his 2024 taxes so I don't need to do that. This will be for purposes of adding new vehicle, disposing an asset, depreciation, etc.

FOR EVERYONE'S INFORMATION   I just spent the morning chatting and calling support. I was able to get bumped up to someone who could actually look into this. My question was, I need to know if/when this feature will be available, because I would need to use another service if I cannot get confirmation it will be available before the tax deadline.   A gentleman from a higher tier informed me that the feature will be available by March 18. Not great, but at least it's coming.   I asked if they could update the publicly available help forms with this information, and he's bumping it up to executive level team given the amount of calls they are getting about it.
Nothing happens on the left when I click the pencil to edit. Trying to clear the sales tax deduction section and there is no way to do it so it asks me the original flow-chart questions again.

Where would I see version #?   Also, we got pretty frustrated with trying to wind our way through this business piece this year so we switched over to the option of having TT do our taxes. So we can't get back to that screen to provide a screen shot. I'll drop this, but that is a direct quote pasted in from the TT webpage.    Thanks,

To fix this, try reopening your return : Sign in to TurboTax. Select Tax Home from the menu. Scroll down to Your tax returns & documents. Click “Add State”. Although it says “Add State” you are not adding one. That option just lets you reopen your return and access it again. If the issue keeps being "corrupt", contact Customer Support by clicking the link below: TurboTax Phone Number
