Just confirmed both suggestions and no luck. I also made sure to enter a "0" (zero) in any numeric entries that were blank as I've seen this sometimes causes issues. And while I was at it, I also removed all my Social Security entries and re-entered. No luck. Any other suggestions welcome!

The State of South Carolina does not conform Federal Section 179 depreciation, so the amount of depreciation of a business asset is going to be different between Federal and South Carolina. Because of that, the amount of recapture that gets taxed is not going to be the same for Federal and South Carolina tax purposes.

When filing a Part Year Resident Return, report the income/tax to the state you lived in when you received it. You may need to calculate a % of estimated tax to pay to each state, based on the income you will receive while living there.
An easy allocation method is to divide the year's interest by 12, and then multiply the figure by the number of months you lived in each state.
Here's more info on Allocating Income for a Part-Year Resident.

Let's also assume depreciation on the building was $100,000. Your gain is is $600.000, but because no sales proceeds were allocated to the land. TutboTax thinks you just sold only the building for $1.5M, resulting in am $800K gain [$1,5M - ($800K - $100K) ] That hypothetical is based on having entered a basis for the land previously in TurboTax. Again, provided the correct sales price, basis, and accumulated depreciation are entered, the program will make the correct calculations in terms of capital gain and Section 1250 recapture. The key here is that ONE piece of property is being sold, not just the building or the land. They don't need to be separated as long as the figures are entered correctly.

Sorry, you can't. When Congress updated the credit in 2022, they required a qualifying number beginning in 2025. The reason was probably to cut down on fraud and/or people claiming credits for property items that did not actually comply with the standards. (Any new door doesn't qualify, only doors that exceed certain requirements.). If the manufacturer did not register with the IRS and get a QMID, they are not a "qualified" manufacturer and you can't claim the credit.

It sounds good. Be sure to look for any other screens that give you a chance to enter non-Maryland income or expenses. On my test, I noticed a screen that referenced child care expenses, for example.

I agree it should just allow you to enter the data. Maybe delete the 1099-R and enter it again.
What is the code in box 7? For some types of withdrawals, box 1 and 2a can't be different.

Yes. It kept asking me, too. It let it through once, but Illinois rejected it.
