What are the exact terms of the trust, particularly with respect to the use of the home?   A trust splits legal and equitable ownership of trust assets with the trustee holding bare legal title and the beneficiaries holding equitable title (they enjoy beneficial ownership).    Regardless, since the home is being used for personal purposes (essentially since the $1/yr rent is far less than fair rental value and is merely nominal), expenses are not deductible with the exception of real estate taxes and even those have limitations.    What would seemingly be fair is to make a distribution to your brother to cover any and all expenses relating to the property since he is currently residing there basically free of charge. However, the terms of the trust may dictate a different treatment.

I've seen several posts that efiled a 2025 1040X amended return.   Did you mean a different year?   But you can only efile an amended return if the first original return was efiled and accepted from the same account.  Where  are you getting stuck?
There tracker isn't any help just says check back. Nothing has been updated since the very first day we filed
You can contact TurboTax Customer Service using this link: Turbo Tax Customer Service
Found out from Turbo Tax AI , the 2025 1040X can not be E Filed through Turbo Tax. It must be printed and submitted by mail.
Never heard the field is too small.  Don't type in the dashes.  Can you post a screen shot?  You are picking the state from the drop down box?  What date are you trying to enter?

To clarify: which box on your W-2 are you referring to?   Box B is the employer's identification number (EIN). You will need this number to either import or manually fill out your Form W-2 in TurboTax.   Box A is the employee's (your) social security number. This number is typically shown as only the last four digits on the W-2 for security purposes.
The thread states the needed files have an extension of "*.tax2024".  I do not see these files.  Looks like they are actually named "*.tt24"   Please verify

How to Access prior year online returns https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/prior-year-return/help/how-do-i-access-my-prior-year-return/00/27010 If you can't get the side menus to open up to access the prior year..... You need to start entering some basic Personal Info in 2025 for the side menu to open up. Just continue a little ways into 2025. I had to go though about 12 screens. If you used the Desktop CD/Download program then the only copy is on your computer and not saved or stored online. So you need to make and keep your own backups. Or request a transcript from the IRS https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript Or get a copy of your return using form 4506 https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf
Which version of TurboTax have you used to file your 2024 tax return? The Do-It-Yourself (online) version or a Desktop version?

Did you already buy the Desktop program?  Can you find a Windows 11 or Mac OS 14 computer to install it on?  Maybe a relative or friend?  Otherwise you can use the Online version.     You can't apply the Desktop CD/Download purchase to Online. Then try to get a refund for the Desktop program.   Start an Online return here, https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/online If you used the Desktop program last year here’s How to transfer into the Online version. You need to have the prior year .tax2024 file on your computer. Expand the link if you used the CD/download last year........ https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/import-export-data-files/transfer-last-year-return-turbotax-online/L279eUvY2_US_en_US?uid=l8w7nlbv Or here’s How to switch and transfer from the Desktop program into the Online version........ https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-topics/help/how-do-i-switch-from-turbotax-cd-download-to-turbotax-online/00/859756   If you used the Desktop program before you may notice several differences and not like the online version. It has less features and no Forms Mode. The Online versions don't have all the same forms so you might have to upgrade to a higher Online version. You can only do 1 return per account. Your return is only saved online so be sure to save both the .tax2025 data file and the pdf file to your computer when you are done. In case you need to amend in the future or if you need a copy to get a loan or something. You might not be able to access your online return when you need a copy.

You are likely getting an IRS letter regarding line 25d of your Form 1040-SR because the total federal income tax withholding reported does not match the records submitted by your employers or financial institutions. This can happen if data is entered incorrectly, such as adding an additional zero in one of your data entries. Or the IRS may be missing a W-2 or 1099 form for one of your income sources.   The IRS is verifying this information to adjust your refund.   Check for instructions or a deadline in the letter. Compare the letter's numbers with those on your TurboTax return. If you agree, follow the instructions in your letter to provide additional information. If you disagree with the letter, send a written explanation to the address listed on it.   You should follow the instructions in the letter to verify your withholding. This usually entails something like sending copies of your W-2s or 1099s.   The IRS usually just asks for documentation directly. An amended return is usually not required.   Click here for What to Do if You Get an IRS Notice
