I'm having an issue with the calculation for tips on the Qualified Tips Smart Worksheet for Schedule 1-A, Part II. Here's what the information shows: Line B 1 - Net Profit is entered. Line B 2 - Other Deductions which is the adjustments to income Schedule 1, Line 26 Line B 3 - Calculated the Net Income for the business by subtracting Line B from A. Line C e - My tip amount is correctly enteered. It exceeds BOTH my Net Profit (Line B 1) and my Net Income (Line B 2). Line G - TT has entered in my NET INCOME from Line B 3. It also has the box checked with an X. This amount is incorrect. It should be the NET PROFIT from Line B 1. What am I missing? Please advise.

We are not able to reproduce this experience but are willing to research this further if you can send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information.
Open your return and go to Online in the top menu, then choose "Send Tax File to Agent."
You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is. Click okay through this screen and then you will get a Token number.
Reply to this thread with your Token number and tag (@) the Expert who requested it. This will allow us to open a copy of your return without seeing any personal information.
We will attempt to determine the cause of your experience and possibly provide you with a resolution.

No, that is not an issue with the IRS. Many people have income in one year and in another year have no income. It is not a flag for the IRS.

I was on the phone with a Turbotax representative for 30 minutes with no firm resolution. MarilynG1 listed suggestions that don't work. First of all not everyone is using a VPN and you aren't going to disable things every time you attempt to use the product. The activation request is random and does not occur all the time. I am now up to 3 of 5. She references their activation server so I would expect that someone there should be able to look at the activation server or ask IT what they use to identify a unique device. It is extremely frustrating.

This is my exact problem, too. The same thing happened last year & it went through the second time with no issues. This year, when I fixed the problem, transmitted the return & my TurboTax software desktop just shuts down. Please don’t tell me I have to file on paper! That’s ridiculous! TT needs to fix this!

@cjoyahall Sometimes one can upload a PDF file or a 1099-R form (it's not "attached") ..BUT...the tax software A.I. has to interpret what's in the various boxes and sometimes gets it wrong...badly/massively wrong like putting a state distribution in the state withholding box...resulting in a massive state refund. ......so typing the data in is far safer.

If you are asking about entering expenses for a Schedule C business that you operate, then it can be found in the Business Income and Expenses section. If you are not seeing that as an option, you may be using a version of TurboTax that does not support claiming business expenses. If this is the case, you should see messaging on the screen telling you that you need to upgrade to a higher version.
Also, take a look at the following TurboTax help article for more guidance to enter business expenses:
Where do I enter my self-employment business expenses, like home office, vehicle mileage, and supplies?

If the numbers on your 1099-R have decimal values (i.e. dollars and cents, like $00.00), then it is fine for those to be rounded up or down to the nearest whole dollar (i.e. $0), and you can just move on from there, if you see that happening.
The IRS will not accept any dollar values on an individual tax return that are not rounded to the nearest dollar / still containing decimals, and the agency will be expecting the software to round off those values regardless.

Have you linked your accounts? You can initiate the link from either app, though most people do it while choosing how to receive their refund. This is where you apply for the refund advance.
Within TurboTax (During Filing)
This is the most common way to link them, especially if you want the Refund Advance or 5 Days Early refund features.
Reach the Refund section of your tax return (usually near the end).
Select Deposit to a Credit Karma Money™ account as your refund method.
TurboTax will prompt you to sign in to your Credit Karma account.
Follow the on-screen prompts to authorize the data sharing between the two accounts.
Within the Credit Karma App
If you haven't started your taxes yet, you can link them to import data.
Open the Credit Karma app.
Tap the "Tax" or "Money" tab in the bottom navigation bar.
Select "File with TurboTax" or "Get Started."
You will be asked to log in with your Intuit/TurboTax credentials. Once logged in, the accounts will be linked for the season.
Via "Switch Products" or "Tax Tools"
If you are already in TurboTax and want to link them before the "Refund" stage:
Go to Tax Tools > Tools on the left menu.
Look for a prompt or "offer" related to Credit Karma Money or Refund Advance.
Clicking these will usually trigger the account linking process.

This order was done in error. I also could not load it since I had another version of the 2025 TTax program on my computer.
