Hi Susan, Thank you for your quick response. Just for clarification, is this correct? (AI) Method 2: Menu Navigation Go to Federal Taxes > Wages & Income. Scroll down to the Less Common Income section. Click "Start" or "Update" next to Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C. Select "Other reportable income". Follow the prompts to enter a description (e.g."Jury Duty""Activity") and the amount.

Only the IRS is in control.   TurboTax gets no information from the IRS after you file your tax return.   You need to watch the IRS refund site for information.  It often takes up to nine weeks after verifying identity to receive your refund.  Sometimes it will be sooner.   You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds
If you are talking about your tax refund, The CRA tries to process returns in about 2 weeks, if you submitted using NETFILE, though it may take longer.

It is STILL not fixed as of 1 March, post 27 Feb update.  TurboTax online.  Last agent tried to pin it on tax changes - told them nope, nothing changed on this aspect, this is a turbotax software problem that has never been there in the past 3-5+ years.  Absolutely unreal with only 6 weeks to file.

A couple reasons could be saying you need to upgrade…… You might be seeing this because of form 8959, that goes to Schedule 2. The amount of Medicare taxes withheld in W2 box 6 is not exactly 1.45% of the Medicare wages in box 5, due to rounding. I read a post that said to try leaving the cents off of the Medicare tax on your W2 box 6. Box 6 has to be exactly 1.45% of box 5 or less. If it is saying you need Schedule 3 and can't use the Free Edition it might be giving you the Retirement Savings Credit. You can say you are a student to decline the credit. You must answer Yes when asked in the Retirement Savings Contributions Credit section if your were a full-time student. The answer to this same question asked in the personal-information section is not the answer that is used.

Yes, you can use the summary totals as long as you report the short-term or long-term totals separately.  This is because short-term and long-term holdings are taxed at different rates.  If you do plan to use the summary totals, you will need to double check that your cost basis is reported correctly.      When you file your return, TurboTax will generate Form 8949 that you will need to mail in when using the sales summary totals.  Please see Do I need to fill out or mail in Form 8949 for more guidance.   How do I import my digital asset transactions into TurboTax also has a lot of good tips to assist you as well.
There is no way to open or import TurboTax Do It Yourself (Online) files in TurboTax Desktop.

If your Box 2a is unknown, leave it blank when inputting your Form 1099-R information. This will automatically trigger TurboTax to ask, "Do you have info in Box 2a or Box 2b?" on the next screen.   Here, you will select "No" because you do not have an amount to input, then Continue.   From there, TurboTax will ask you additional questions to do the Simplified Method calculations.    By following the interview prompts, you will not need to do the calculations yourself.   To complete the questions successfully, you will need:   The amount from Box 9b of your Form 1099-R.  Annuity Start Date Plan Cost (Matches Box 9b of your Form 1099-R) If this is not your first year receiving these payments, you will need the total amount of tax-free money you already excluded in previous years. You can find this by reviewing your prior year tax returns and look for the difference between the gross distribution and the taxable distribution (the smaller amount reported as income)

Al's question: What does "the after-tax deductions ($5887 total) that were collected by my employer" mean?  Answer: $5887 is the total amount of after-tax deductions that my employer withheld from my paychecks in 2025.  They collected the taxes exceeding $5250 (max tax-free).  They prepaid my taxes every quarters and then collected these taxes back from my paychecks throughout the year.  BTW, $5887 is not itemized in W-2; it's the total after-tax deductions from all paychecks.   Al's question: Is $5887 the amount of reimbursement over $5250?  Earlier you indicated the amount was $17,161.  Answer: No, $5887 is the total after-tax amount withheld from my paychecks (See above for explanation). $17,161 is the "Tuition paid to school" that is included in Box 1 of W-2 (There is also Tuition Reimbursement = $643.7, but I don't understand what this is).  However,  Full Tuition = $31,743, that would indicate the taxable amount is 31,743 - 5250 = $26,493.  That's why I'm confused on whether to enter $17,161 or $26,493 into the place "Amount reported as income on a W-2".    Al's question: Did you get $22,411 (5250 + 17,161) in tuition assistance?   Answer: No, I got 31,743 from my employer.

Hi Everyone, Could you please advise me on how to correctly report my earnings from Upside? I received five bank transactions totaling $0.31 with the description: “You just earned $… thanks to your referral using Upside.” It’s not a bonus — it’s earnings — but the amount is very small. I would like to report it in TurboTax. Could you please provide step-by-step instructions for 2025 on how to do that correctly? I did not receive any tax forms.
