Opus 17, Thanks for that information! To create a new account, I guess I have to create a new email account somewhere first. If it asks for a name, should I put mom's name or my name?

My wife and I live in a community property state and are fill out out the Form 8958 to divide our income. When entering in the negative amount to balance out the taxes paid the desktop version is adding the absolute value instead of adding the negative. IE say one spouses W2 has $20,000 withheld and the other has has $10,000 withheld the $20,000 has a -$5,000 adjustment. and the other has a $5,000 adjustment. When turbo tax is adding the negative its adding the values and disregarding the negative so it ends up saying one spouse paid $25,000 and the other paid $15,000.
This worked for me, thanks! (re-run the 2024 version of the app, let it update, resave, close, and retry on 2025 version of the app)

@topprice  Here's a workaround that I think will make TurboTax give you the $500,000 exclusion. Before you try this workaround, please send the sanitized copy of the tax return that @GabiU requested so that the TurboTax software people can work on the problem.   The workaround involves going through Smart Check twice and correcting errors. The first error will say that a question about the spouse living in the home for 2 years is not answered. Select Yes as the answer. That will end the Smart Check (if there are no other errors). Run Smart Check again and you will get a new error on a question about the spouse excluding gain on another home. Select No as the answer. TurboTax will then give you the $500,000 exclusion.

You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it.  It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox on the corner.  The IRS does not allow you to take it back.   If you left out a W-2, a 1099G, or a dependent, or a 1099 etc…DO NOT change your return while it is “pending.”  The changes will go nowhere.   Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return.  If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.     If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund.  THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and e-file or mail  it in. You have to be able to work from that return exactly the way it was when it was e-filed originally.  You will need to use a form called a 1040X.     Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself.  Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed   The Form 1040X you need becomes available in late February,  But wait until your return has been processed.
Sorry--no, if you already e-filed it is too late to seek the advance.
Thanks.  That is what I ended up concluding.  So, that bug was more on TIAA Cref's side!  They should have left it blank.
@RAG1962   Texas does not have a state income tax.  Leave boxes 14, 15 & 16 BLANK.

Yes. That’s time and a half. The extra $15 is not taxed.
@alexedwards1166 I’ve heard deleting the cents part of Box 6 fixes the issue! Not sure if this worked tho bc I ended up finding an extra tax break that ACTUALLY required the upgrade.
