@be18 wrote: I am using new computer and turbo tax 25 says it cannot find my 2024 turbo tax file even though I  had the 2024 files transferred to the new computer Are you using a Mac computer or Windows PC?   When you transferred files to the new computer, was it the *.tax2024 data file, a 2024 PDF, or both?   If you copied the 2024 data file to the new computer, do you remember the directory location where you placed the data file on the new computer?   We don't know what you're using, but on a Windows PC the default location for the TurboTax data files is the Documents\TurboTax folder, but in moving to a new computer, you could have placed them anywhere.  Search your entire system for any file ending in *.tax2024 or you can also search for all files with the *.tax extension.   The method to do that differs a bit between Windows and Mac.   Without knowing the operating system, there's not much more to say yet.

It depends. First wait to see if your return was accepted or rejected. Accepted: An amended return must be completed to make the corrections. Rejected:  Make the change before you resubmit your return through e-file. If it was accepted you can amend your tax return using the information below. Do not change anything until you review the instructions so that TurboTax knows the original numbers and the corrected ones. Use the links below for assistance and readiness. You can go back and change your choice between the standard deduction and itemizing at any time before you file your return.    TurboTax automatically selects the option that gives you the biggest tax break based on the info you entered, but you can manually override this.    To change your selection in TurboTax Online, follow these steps:   -Select Federal from the left menu and then Deductions & Credits.   -Scroll to the bottom of the Your tax breaks page and select Wrap up tax breaks or Done with Deductions.   -Continue through the screens until you reach the one titled The Standard Deduction is Right for You! or Itemizing Deductions is Right for You!   -Check the box for Change my deduction to see a comparison of both amounts and select the one you want to use.

I've been a TT  user for 20+ years. The RMD 2025 is a TT programming issue and they need to step up, own the RMD issue problem and stop ignoring their problem. One comment I read is looking good to me, spend $36 and purchase H&R Block tax program. It works with no RMD run around. Its also cheaper than spending  $60 for a TT expert to fix TT poor RMD Code. I am very disappointed with TT for ignoring and not fix this obvious problem.  How many times does a user have to delete and reenter their 1099R.

When I complete entering my deductions, the option to change from standard to Itemized deduction never appears. It seems like there is a bug in the software. I was able to select Itemized initially and I was reviewing my return in order to file it and now TurboTax has selected standard deduction and won't let me change it back.
No. Click on Add a State to let you back into your return. Do not click on Amend.   You aren't really going to add a state, this just lets you back in to make your corrections and/or adjustments.
