Yes, since you are splitting the proceeds, you will only report your share of the proceeds on your tax return. This split will appear on 8949 and Schedule D when you report it.   You would only report your share of the inheritance on a 3520 if your share exceeded $100,000. If your share of the money sits in a foreign account and that account (plus any others) exceeds $10,000 at any time, you must file an FBAR.   You will file a FATCA 8938 if your total foreign financial assets exceed $50,000 (for single filers living in the U.S.) on the last day of the year (or $75,000 at any time). This is only if the money was deposited into a foreign bank account. If it ‌was deposited in your US bank account, you don't need to file this report. This is the Real Estate Exception Rule.

The Canadian version made it compatible for Win 10 as of last Friday due to "customer feedback". Not doing this for  the US version is strictly arbitrary

But here is the challenge - TurboTax is NOTORIOUS for mis/dis-information purely for marketing to confuse the user.  Every few pages they ALWAYS try to upsell.  Couple of years ago, I filed standard and had to HUNT down where and how to file free.  Fast forward to 2025, my daughter who makes far less than I do, filed using the simple form, both federal and state and she was charged $88!!!! WTF… I make 10 times the amount as she does and also took the standard deduction, married filed joint and was charged ZERO.   TurboTax… you owe my daughter $88!!!

Social Security is still being taxed as it was in the past; however, there's a new $6,000 deduction for individuals older than 65 years old.  Also, a $12,000 deduction would apply to couples who qualify.     This deduction is for qualified individuals. Age: You must be 65 or older by the end of the tax year (e.g., born before Jan 2, 1961, for 2025 returns). Income Limits: Your Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) must be below certain thresholds (e.g., $175k single, $250k joint for 2025), with deductions phasing out above those levels. Benefit: Up to $6,000 (single) or $12,000 (joint) Additional standard deduction to reduce taxable income.  Deduction phases out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 ($150,000 for joint filers). The full taxable amount is included in your gross income on Form 1040; however, the Senior Deduction is reflected on line 13b.   It is reflected on Schedule 1A, Part V, Line 37   For more information, see Deductions for Seniors.

The promised code for "Retirement Plans and Social Security" has been delivered FINALLY in Turbotax 2025.  For me it brings a new problem I have not seen in past years. Turbotax shows that I owe a penalty due to not taking an RMD from my pension.  This shows up on this forum a lot in the March 2025 timeframe (sherertzg is an example).  On 3/1/2025 xmasbaby0 suggests "If you entered a 1099R for a pension you just need to say it was all an RMD" which makes sense in a way.   But how do we do that in Turbortax 2025?  One would think Turbortax could "see" the difference between a pension and an IRA account.   I did not have this problem using Turbotax 2024 last year if memory serves me correct.

What sort of assistance do you need?    To check if you signed up for the TurboTax Refund Advance, you can look in a few specific places in your account or your email.    Check Your TurboTax Order Details On the Tax Home page, scroll down to the section for "Your tax returns & documents." Select View Order Details. Look for "Refund Advance" or "Credit Karma Money" listed under your payment and refund methods.  If it’s not there, you likely selected a standard direct deposit or a different refund option.   Look for Confirmation Emails If you applied, you should have received automated emails from TurboTax and its partners. From TurboTax: Search for an email confirming your "Refund Selection." From Credit Karma: If you were approved, Credit Karma sends an email when the funds are deposited into your Credit Karma Money Spend account. From WebBank: If your application was denied, you will receive an email from WebBank (the lender) explaining the reason for the decline.   Check Your Credit Karma Money Account Because the Refund Advance is deposited into a Credit Karma Money™ Spend account, checking that account is the fastest way to see if the loan was processed. Log in to your Credit Karma account. Navigate to the Money tab. If you see a pending or completed deposit for a portion of your refund (typically between $250 and $4,000) shortly after the IRS accepted your return, that is your Refund Advance.   Review Your Tax Return Summary You can also find clues on your actual tax forms: Open your 2025 return in TurboTax Go to the Tax Tools menu on the left Select Print Center View your Federal Information Worksheet Look at the "Direct Deposit" section If you signed up for the advance, the bank account listed will be the MVB Bank account associated with Credit Karma, rather than your personal bank account.

The software is not forgetting your previous answers; the presumption is that if you go through the HSA interview and answer certain questions, then you want to change previous answers.   When you check a certain option, TurboTax requires that you re-enter the months in which you had HDHP coverage.   In the HSA interview, you are asked, "What type of HDHP coverage did [name] have during 2025?"   What did you answer here? "Different plan types at different times of the year"? Checking this is likely to reset the HDHP coverage for each month until you enter it again.   That is, the software is not forgetting your previous answers; the presumption is that if you go through the HSA interview and answer certain questions, then you want to change previous answers. You can see that with a little testing that when you enter various months from pass to pass, that the change in the tax return is consistent with the software using the last set of entries that you made.
