My wife and I own our house 50/50 and rent a room to our son.  I read recently that we should be indicating that we each have 50% ownership on our tax return.     When I do our taxes, Turbotax just asks if we both own the property and does not ask ownership percentages. There is only one Schedule E produced.   We file a joint return.   Is this correct?   Thanks

As already explained by two others, it is too late for you to use TurboTax for a 2014 return.   How were you informed that there is a problem with your 2014 state return?   That is from so long ago, I would be suspicious of even a letter claiming to be from the state.  It could be a scam.  Before you get too involved with attempting to prepare a 2014 state tax return, contact the state to see if this is legitimate.     https://www.revenue.alabama.gov/

You do not mention what you are trying to fix.    If you know you made an incorrect entry, like an incorrect income amount, etc. you should make corrections before you mail the tax return.   As  @fanfare  pointed out, e-filing is permanently closed for 2024 returns, so nothing you fix is going to allow you to e-file.   The only way to file a 2024 return now is by mail.   It must be printed, signed and dated in ink, and mailed in to the IRS (and state if you have a state return).     You will be able to access the 2024 return you started by using the exact same account and user ID that you used when you started it.   But you can no longer use online software for any further changes.       Start a 2025  return online and enter some personal information  so that the menu on the left opens up and lets you access your past year returns.   Online tax preparation and e-filing for 2024  returns is now permanently closed.    Now it is too late to use online software or to e-file. If you have any changes/corrections at all to make to your 2024 return, you now have to complete it using desktop software, which you must download to a full PC or Mac  (not to a mobile device). Then you need to print, sign and mail it.   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/printers-printing/finish-prior-year-return-started-turbotax-online/L9Oe4M90A_US_en_US?uid=m68tffpe   If you already paid for your online software you can ask customer support for a download of the desktop software.   They are available from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time Monday - Friday   https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899263-what-is-the-turbotax-phone-number     If you are getting a refund, there is no penalty for filing late.  If you owe tax due, then file and pay the amount due as shown on the Form 1040, but expect a bill later from the IRS for the penalty and interest you will owe.  Only the IRS will calculate this—TurboTax will not calculate it.     When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.   Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.   @fanfare

I moved on to FreeTaxUSA. I was able to do my estimates for the year and adjust my W2 withholdings. It is FREE and UI is so much better than TT. No more purchasing TT for me.

Ditto all the complaints about TT not ready to do preliminaries before the 12/31 deadlines. Has anybody requested a refund, so you can move over to another software provider?

I am a content creator. My content revolves solely around my children’s athletic journeys (training, tournaments, competitions, and travel). I know I can deduct some business related travel expenses when filing taxes but can I list my children’s tuition for training and tournament fees as deductions, also? Training sessions and tournaments are always documented and used for content. Also, I don’t know if this is relevant or helpful information but I will be receiving a 1099 and my children’s fictious names are all listed as DBAs under my LLC.

You can no longer use TurboTax Online to file for 2024. TurboTax Online is only for the current tax year, which is now 2025. To file for 2024 you have to use the desktop TurboTax software for 2024. You can purchase a download at the following link. Past Years' Products The desktop TurboTax software can only be used on a Windows or Mac computer, not on a mobile device or a Chromebook. Tax returns for past years cannot be e-filed. You will have to print your 2024 tax return, sign it, and file it by mail. When you file by mail you have to attach copies of your W-2s and any W-2G or 1099-R that has tax withheld. We suggest that you mail it by certified mail with a return receipt so that you get tracking and confirmation of delivery. Mail your federal and state tax returns in separate envelopes, because they go to different places. Follow the filing instructions that TurboTax prints.

This answer assumes your previous returns were prepared in Online TurboTax.   Any return prepared in desktop TurboTax will not be in an Online account.  Here's how one would normally find past-year online returns and how to troubleshoot for multiple accounts (User IDs) if necessary.  Many people end up with more than 1 account.  The pathway to download the PDF or tax data file depends on whether or not you have started an online 2025 return.  I provide both scenarios below, so choose which one is appropriate for your situation.   If you have not yet started a 2025 online return: Sign in to your account.   What you see next depends on whether or not you have already started a 2025 return in that account.   If your left column menu is minimal, and does not have a Tax Home tab displayed, that would imply you have not started preparing a 2025 return in that account.  If you haven't yet started a return, it will start asking you some questions.  Answer those preliminary questions on a few screens (you don't actually have to prepare a return), and then when you are far enough into the process, the left menu column will change, and you'll then see a Tax Home option in the left menu column.  Do not click the Documents tab.  Instead, click on Tax Home.  Then on the Tax Home screen, scroll way down to the bottom to "Your Tax Returns & Documents".  Expand that section and choose the past year you want.   If your past returns are not shown there, then you likely have multiple accounts and signed into the wrong one.  I'll tell you below how to troubleshoot.   If you have already started a 2025 online return: Log in, and if you've already started a 2025 return in that account, then it may already open at the Tax Home.  If not, click the Tax Home tab in the left column menu.  Do not use the Documents tab.  At the Tax Home scroll down and expand "Your Tax Returns & Documents."   If the past returns are not there, see the steps below.   If you do all that and can't find the past return, here's how to look for multiple accounts: You can have up to 5 accounts that use the same email address for notification purposes.  A User ID may be an email address, but it doesn't have to be.  It might be only part of an email address, or it can be anything at all.   To get a list of your User IDs, reset password, and recover account access, etc., you can use the tool at the link below.  When using the Account Recovery tool, try using your phone number first if you can still access it.   After that, if necessary, then run the tool on your email address(es) you can access. NOTE: Before running the account recovery tool below, log out of all Intuit accounts including this user forum, or you might end up in a loop.  Then clear your browser Internet cache, close your browser, then reopen it, and go to the link below.  You may wish to copy this link so you can paste it into the new browser session. https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery If still no luck after running that on your phone number you can still access and email address(es) that you can access,  here's another method:          Go back to the tool again, but this time leave the data field blank, scroll down a bit, then choose the small blue link that says "Try something else", and it will look you up by other parameters.
