Always print a copy of your completed tax return for your records, and review it carefully before e-Filing. You will need it if you are audited by the IRS, to contact the IRS, or to amend if a TurboTax update changes your return or for any other reason, AND, to find your AGI next year. IRS cares nothing about the TurboTax review/xummary; that's for your convenience. @Emy95

I'm trying to download the desktop version for Windows It leads me through a maze of pages, and then gives "We're hitting a snag, but we're working fast to fix it. Please try again later." It used to be easy - you would just download the software and then install it. In debugger I see this bunch of errors: fetch at 'https://websorchestration.api.intuit.com/v1/orchestration/initialize-cart' from origin 'https://shop.app.intuit.com' has been blocked by CORS policy: Response to preflight request doesn't pass access control check: No 'Access-Con[product key removed]n' header is present on the requested resource. I hope this is a quick question. This is for a Trust. I'm the trustee. My sister died 12/28/23 Her condo was sold 12/10/24. Let's say for $500k The fair market value stayed about the same from time of death until the property was sold. What do i enter on the form for the stepped up basis? I have been given 2 different answer for the same question. Do i enter $0 on the form, or $500k on the form?

hello. I filed my taxes back in February. We received our federal and state tax return from ohio. It states we are approved for our colorado return as well but we have not received our colorado return yet. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I have tried contacting turbo tax and the irs already and each time they say there's no file for my social or my wife's which I filed jointly with. Again any information would be greatly appreciated.

Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities. There is no rule as to which one will come in first or how long it will be between their arrival in your account.
TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. “21 days” is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2024 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
https://www.irs.gov/refunds
To track your state refund:
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr
If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing

I NEED A COPY OF MY W-2 (or 1099)
W-2's come from employers. There is not a federal or national website that provides W-2’s.
TurboTax does not have a copy of your W-2—the Wage & Tax Statement—issued to you by your employer, (nor does TurboTax have copies of your 1099’s). Whether you entered your W-2 by keying it in yourself, importing from a payroll site or by snapping a photo using the mobile app—-TT does not have a copy of your W-2. If you saved a pdf of your completed tax return, the worksheets will show the W-2 information you entered, but not the actual W-2.
You should always save those documents for your own records. You could ask the employer(s) for copies or you can get a copy from Social Security (for a fee of $62).
To get a copy of a W-2 from Social Security https://faq.ssa.gov/en-us/Topic/article/KA-02501
https://www.irs.gov/help-resources/tools-faqs/faqs-for-individuals/frequently-asked-tax-questions-answers/irs-procedures/transcript-or-copy-of-form-w-2/transcript-or-copy-of-form-w-2
You can get a wage and income transcript from the IRS: It will not show the actual W-2, 1099’s, etc, but will show the income information the IRS received. It will not, however, show your state information. It will only show the federal information.
https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript
Or you can pay the IRS $30 for an actual copy of your tax return which will include copies of your W-2’s

First LOG OUT of whatever TurboTax account you're logged into right now. Then use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of user ID's for an email address. You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places. Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.

I contributed in 2024 for 2023 and 2024 maxing out both years. I have gains from these contributions. TurboTax advised I need to remove everything from the IRA (I had no money in it prior to this). TurboTax advised split the gains (NIA) for both years on Return of Excess form. My brokerage approved 2024 Return of Excess, but keeps rejecting 2023. I haven’t received a clear response from brokerage as to why it’s rejected. The 2023 contribution was made on 2 different days 4/30/2024 ($3,200) and 5/1/2024 ($3,800). Do I fill out two forms for each contribution or one form for the $6500 plus NIA? Is there a reason my brokerage can’t remove the NIA for that year, 2023? What actions are needed to resolve this issue?
