I meant that as far as state law is concerned, you still have an LLC, not a corporation (i.e., you're still members in the LLC for all other purposes, not shareholders in corporation, since you organized an LLC and did not incorporate).

Just started my 2025 return (Mac, desktop). When prompted to import last year's (".tax2024") information, I get a "boing" sound when selecting the file and hitting "continue" - but nothing is getting imported, no error message, just the sound. How do I fix this?
I need to file my 2024 tax return so I can work on my 2025. How can I do that?

And....let's not overlook that there was government shutdown during the time that tax forms for 2025 could have been getting readied by the IRS....Users often want to blame the software company without realizing that the forms resulting from tax law changes have to be created by the IRS.  After the tax software has been written for the tax law changes, the IRS must inspect and approve the software before it is made available to users.

@M-MTax Thanks for the reply. That was my initial thought when they showed me the IRS acceptance letter, and I read up on Rev Proc 2013-30 which seems to imply that you will only be approved as a "streamline" S Corp late filer if you have been previously filing in a matter consistent with an S Corp. Basically a Pass-Through with no prior year tax impacts that differ Partnership vs S Corp; other than potentially over-paying SE Taxes those first couple of years if you were a profitable start up.  But I am unable to find any documentation stating the "streamline" result is to simply continue on with the 1120S as of the effective date. It does seem like that is the logical intent of the procedure, to allow less complex LLCs to move into S Corp status without shutting down and restarting when there is no tax effect.   The State half is not a problem as both Partnerships and S Corps are filed on the same Pass-Through Entity form where the only difference is the box you check.

You cannot use online TurboTax for a 2022 return if that is what you mean.     You cannot change the tax year.   The current online program is for 2025 only.   Only a 2025 return can be prepared online and only a 2025 return can be e-filed.   Online preparation and e-filing for 2022, 2023, and  2024 is permanently closed. Note:  The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac.  It cannot be used on a mobile device.   To file a return for a prior tax year  If you need to prepare a return for 2022, 2023, or 2024  you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign,  and mail the return(s) https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/ You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.   Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/state-taxes/contact-state-department-revenue/L9qVToi02_US_en_US?uid=m6e06um0   When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.   Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
Can I get my 1040 tax 2024?
Some further clarification to my question above: this is for the Canadian version.

Hello. Where is the link to be able to download Turbotax Business Incorporated 2024? I purchased it and the link to install took me directly to the 2025 version. Thanks
Plus it takes the IRS a long time to implement any changes.  Turbo Tax has to wait the for IRS to finalize all the forms.   It's not a simple process.

Once you have TT installed on your computer and you open your tax data file, you can switch to Forms mode (icon in the top menu bar) and see a list of tax forms.  There is a home mortgage interest worksheet (called Mort Int Wks or something like that) but there is different worksheet where the limitation is calculated (whose name I forget).     Final numbers like mortgage interest on line 8a of schedule A usually can't be directly edited, but double-clicking on the number will usually take you to the worksheet where the number was calculated.  There is an override command in the Forms menu that will allow you to directly enter a number into a normally calculated space, that you can use to enter the correct interest amount when you are ready to amend.
Which type of form to use w-8 or w-9
you can only use online since that does not require W11.
If I have Windows 10 and no plan to update, can I not use Turbotax for 2025???   You can use any Online version BUT the desktop versions do NOT support Windows 10.
You will not be able to use the 2025 desktop download on a PC with Windows 10; you can still use online TurboTax.
