@annettemmonheim , agreeing with my colleague @Mike9241 on his excellent & complete response to your post, I would just like to add:
(a) the "expat" referred to in @Mike9241 's response is generally referred in the code as US Person and includes US citizens and Residents ( GreenCard holders only when tax-home is foreign because SPT may not apply).
(b) depending on the country where your tax-home is, tax treaty assertions may apply including "resourced by treaty" for US sourced income taxed by both US and Foreign Taxing authority for purposes of Foreign Tax Credit ( form 1116 ).

if you file as a real estate professional (REP) you are entitled to the QBI deduction which is a separate code section (199A) from the passive activities code section (469). Rental real estate is not a passive activity for REPs so is treated as a nonpasive trade or business. on the other hand you don't have to be a REP to qualify for the QBI because that has different requirements. one being only 250 hours.
you can be a REP one year but not the next

unless the partnership partners with Turbotax and you are using a desktop version of the app, upload is not possible.
many publicly traded partnerships do and you can download from the website provided in the k-1 package you received the Turbotax file ending in .txf
if your version of Turbotax supports it, you can go to file> import >other financial software > browse files
for that .TXF file
online is manual input that cannot be reviewed until you pay the Turbotax fees and then print as a PDF to your computer all files and forms and supporting schedules. Not sur witj online if you can just download a apDF the k-1 supporting schedule.

as a US expat, you are required to report your stock transactions on your 1040. Th free edition will not allow entering them. you have to upgrade to Premier. if you use d a broker that provids a 1099-B you may be able to import it into your tax return otherwise you need to manually enter each transaction or prepare/get a worksheet in a format that is similar to form 8949 split between short and long-term transactions. then you can enter summary totals with the code letter M. you may be required to mail in your 1040 in which case you would attach the spreadsheet. if you can e-file, you use form 8453 to mail in the detail. read the instructions.
https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8453.pdf
if you are not provided with the details in US $s, the major difference is that you will need to convert purchases and sales. It is more accurate to use the spot rate on the date of purchase to convert the basis and the spot rate on the date of sale to convert the sales proceeds. This is also the IRS's preferred method of doing conversions. The Internal Revenue Service has no official exchange rate.
https://www.fiscal.treasury.gov/reports-statements/treasury-reporting-rates-exchange/historical.html
you may also have foreign account reporting requirements
forms 8938 and Form 114
see this page
https://www.irs.gov/businesses/comparison-of-form-8938-and-fbar-requirements
****************************************************'
if you are a nonresident alien you file 1040-NR which Turbotax doesn't do
A non-resident alien is classified as a resident alien for tax purposes if they were physically present in the U.S. for 31 days during the current year and 183 days during a three-year period that includes the current year and the two years immediately before that.
Sprintax and others may do the 1040-NR.
I can provide no help for completing this form. see the IRS instructions

Were the $14,000 of Traditional IRA contributions deductible? Or were they not deductible? [EDIT: I just saw one was for 2025, so I'll revise the question to "Was the $7,000 for 2024 deductible?"] Any other Traditional IRA accounts, including SEPs or SIMPLEs?

thank you for reading and understanding my question and also for the thorough the reply @dmertz I meet all criteria for the conversion, the rollover and understand the restrictions and impact on taxes owed. I understand how and when a simple distribution affects income. I called the IRS yesterday and spent an hour on the phone with someone from the IRS trying to get an answer and she spent quite a lot of time reviewing forms 590 (page 33) and publication 505 (pages 29, 31 and 32 ) and referred me to form 2210. In the end, she could not and would not confirm the sequence of steps in my question are permitted by the IRS and suggested I contact a certified tax professional for advice. Appreciate the time you took to review and reply to my question.

You cannot file a 2024 extension request. That had to be done on or before April 15, 2025.
If the 2024 tax return will have a tax refund, there is no reason to file for an extension. The refund will be paid if the 2024 tax return is filed at any time on or before April 15, 2028.
If the 2023 tax return has taxes owed, you should file the return as soon as possible and pay the taxes owed, since penalties and interest will continue to accrue until the tax return has been filed and the taxes paid.

Registering the software, updating the forms and net filing are the only times I enable my internet connection. I'd be willing to bet that you are in the **extreme** minority of desktop users in that regard, probably well under 1%. Intuit can't accommodate an infinitesimally small number of users as it's not economically viable to do so.

Assuming that you have no other IRA accounts and that the traditional IRA contribution for 2023 that you enter into 2023 TurboTax was nondeductible, TurboTax will prepare 2023 Form 8606 showing the nondeductible contribution on line 1. TurboTax will then apply that basis to the Roth conversion performed in 2023, resulting in $0 of taxable income shown on line 18. The amount on line 18 gets included on Form 1040 line 4b, so with the amount on line 18 of Form 8606 being zero, nothing is added to line 4b. If no Form 8606 is present, you have failed to enter a nondeductible traditional IRA contribution.

I also bought 2 new desktop machines with Windows 11 pre-installed. None of the foregoing had One Drive enabled and I have never been forced to use OneDrive nor have I ever used it. In fact, you can completely get rid of OneDrive in Windows 10 or 11 if you so desire.

Why did it reject? The reject email should say the reject message or code. A common reject is for last year's AGI. Try entering 0 for the AGI. The IRS might have processed your return later so the AGI didn't get entered in time. Especially if you mailed it. That works for most people. See, https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/rejections/help/what-if-i-entered-the-correct-agi-and-i-m-still-getting-an-e-file-reject/00/27031 How to correct the AGI in the Online version https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/agi/help/where-do-i-correct-my-agi-in-turbotax-online/00/26311 If you can’t get it to efile you will have to print and mail it. https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/printing/help/how-do-i-print-and-mail-my-return-in-turbotax-online/00/26258 Be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them. You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places. Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.
