If you are using the desktop version of TurboTax Deluxe, please be sure that you have installed the latest updates by going to Online > Check for Updates at the top of the screen.   If you have installed all the latest updates and the issue is not corrected, it would be very helpful to have a diagnostic copy of your tax file to see what may be causing the situation you are seeing.  The diagnostic file will not contain personally identifiable information, only numbers related to your tax forms.     If you would like to provide us with the diagnostic file, follow the instructions below and post the token number along with which version of TurboTax you are using and what states you are filing in a follow-up thread.     Use these steps if you are using TurboTax Online:   Sign in to your account and be sure you are in your tax return. Select Tax Tools in the menu to the left. Select Tools. Select Share my file with agent. A pop-up message will appear, select OK to send the sanitized diagnostic copy to us. Post the token number here.    If you are using a CD/downloaded version of TurboTax, use these steps:   Select Online at the top of the screen. Select Send Tax File to Agent. Click OK. Post the token number here.
I was never offered TurboTax Deluxe. I used Premium last year but I don't need it. My Turbotax comes up in the new format (Tax Home) and I can find no way to get "switch products".
What do you mean by "I have a $1400 relief check for Covid?"   Do you mean you have an actual paper check and did not ever cash it?   What are you trying to do?
I suggest you run Federal Review on the Left sidebar. This will review what you've posted so far, and identify problem areas. You can enter corrections directly from fere.

There's a new urban myth among college students that says they can get a $1000 from the government just for filing a tax form. For most of them, they simply aren't eligible. A full time unmarried student, under age 24, even if you don't qualify as a dependent, is only eligible for the refundable portion of the American Opportunity Credit if he supports himself by working. You cannot be supporting yourself on parental support, 529 plans or student loans & grants. It is usually best if the parent claims that credit.  You cannot claim the (up to) $1000 refundable credit if you are, or can be, claimed as a dependent by someone else.   Reference: Line 7 instructions for form 8863. https://www.irs.gov/instructions/i8863#en_US_2024_publink53002gd0e674 At $13,000 earned income, it's marginal whether you qualify for the refundable AOTC.  When TurboTax sees that you are a FT student, under 24, it will add an earned income support question to the interview. The earned income support question is part of the personal info interview, not  the education interview. Go thru the personal info  section again and be sure you answered that question correctly (or you answered the preceding questions correctly to generate that question).    You use the term "financial aid". Loans and scholarships are handled differently. Assuming the $7000 is scholarship;  When asked if any of the scholarship was used for room and board, answer yes. Then enter the amount you want to be taxable (apparently $6500, unless you have some book and computer expenses to enter), in the pop up box. R&B are not "qualified educational  expenses".  So, this is how you tell TT that it is taxable. Note the wording at that screen “or other expenses”. You didn’t have to literally use the scholarship for R&B.  This will put it on line 8r of Schedule 1 (this line was added in 2022).   If you're under 25, you're also not eligible for the EIC, unless you have kids.
If you have a penalty on Form 5329 that item becomes relevant. DId you get penalized? TurboTax 2024 is wrongfully penalizing many taxpayers @rgkutach

No I checked that.  When I go to the his Federal IRA form, it does NOT show a rollover , only his RMD.    The problem is a page on the NJ state step by step on the desktop.

Do not click on anything that says "amend" if you have not e-filed.    To get back in to the return to make changes or corrections before you file, click on "add a state"-----you do not really have to add a state return, but that trick will let you back in to the return to go through it and make changes before you e-file.
