@osbuntax611 , Agreeing with the excellent replies ( and the referred articles) from my colleagues @KarenL4  and @FranklinF , would just like to add the following: (a)  As a US person  and even with a foreign tax home you are still subject to  FBAR requirements --  form 114 at www.FinCen.gov and only on-line. There is no threshold  change based on tax-home (b) As a US person you are still subject to FATCA regs. -- form 8938  ( along with your  tax return ).  See this  ---  Comparison of Form 8938 and FBAR requirements | Internal Revenue Service Which country are you moving to ?   I ask because of US/that country  tax treaty considerations inclu. taxation of your US social Security by that country. Is there more I can do for you ?

Here are a few links to some of the answers that came up. If none help you then try the google search above for more links. I hope the links here work since Turbo is claiming invalid and removed. If the person who claimed you as a dependent had to pay someone else to care for you while they were at work, they could possibly get the child and dependent care credit for paying someone---but that is not a refundable credit.   It reduces the tax they owe.  And....again, sorry...it is not a credit available to you.

If your only income was SSI or Social Security with no tax withheld, then you do not have to file a tax return, and would not be eligible for a tax refund or tax credit.   If you have a 1095A for having marketplace health insurance you are required to file a tax return even if your only income was Social Security.

No ---there is no tax credit for claiming yourself and saying that you are disabled.   And as for someone else getting a credit for claiming you...if you are over the age of 16, the only credit they get for claiming you as a dependent is a $500 credit for other dependents.  There is no special federal tax credit for claiming a disabled dependent.
Can you claim urself and get the disabled credit or someone has to claim you to get the credit cause they took care of you all year long.

Right, and I used it when I first installed to do my taxes in 2022.  However, I tossed the CD later that year and didn't keep the code because I assumed that having installed it I wouldn't need the activation code again.   What I don't understand is why TT wants me to reauthorize so long after I installed and used it.   (yep, there's some irritation over this.)   The immediate question, I guess, is if there is some way to get around this requirement so I can access the final version of my taxes for that year.

@baldietax & @fanfare    Thank you so much for clarity and validating my assessment. As mentioned, my 2025 tax liability will be much higher than my 2024 taxes and I didn't want to make any estimate payment for '25 taxes until the filling date next April, and at the same time didn't want to incur any penalty on that.   So as @fanfare summarized..  "estimate on prior year's tax , or 90% of this year's tax, whichever is smaller".   Thank you both, do very much appreciate.

Please see this link from the IRS that has an explanation for reasons for the delay. There should be a number listed on your CB21B notice in the section titled "What you need to know" that you can use to call the IRS for an updated status of your return.   Also, if you are still having issues after contacting the IRS, you can follow the steps to contact a Taxpayer Advocate in the link provided.  A Taxpayer Advocate will act as a liaison between you and the IRS if you are unsuccessful in obtaining answers when contacting the IRS directly.

The penalty calculation in TurboTax is prepared based upon entries into the program.  Since this is a public forum, it's hard to determine why your penalty calculation was overstated as compared to what was calculated within TurboTax.  This could be the result of having penalties in prior years and not paying enough in estimated taxes in 2024, or you could have had a significant increase in income in 2024 but when entering the information into TurboTax, Form 2210 was not annualized to reflect when the income was actually received.  This FAQ from the IRS which provides more guidance on how the penalties are calculated.   Please see Estimated Taxes:  How to Determine What to Pay and When for more details on how the penalty is calculated as well as some tips to assist you in the future.
