1065 - K-1 Part L: We have formerly used GAAP #s (not tax #s) on this schedule which tied out to 1065 sch L (balance sheet). Turbo Tax doesn't appear to allow this presentation. Override options?

I agree wholeheartedly about needing to see the worksheets after filing my taxes! It’s mind-boggling to me that they’ve taken that feature away in the file-online version. Now we all have to go back and backwards engineer the numbers on our filed return to figure out where the numbers came from.  What’s the point of having TurboTax if I have to redo it myself manually to look something up?!   Show your work, TurboTax!!   Rediculous!

As long as you are diligent about paying off the loan such that you never cause a deemed distribution, a loan from the 403(b) makes more sense than making a Roth IRA distribution.  If you have to, you can always take Roth IRA distributions later to be able to make the payments on the loan.  Taking a distribution from the Roth IRA would permanently reduce the potential for tax-free growth in the Roth IRA.

We are talking here about distributions made in March of 2025, before the due date of the 2024 tax return, so invoking section 301.9100-2 need not be done.  That paragraph only would apply if the tax return was filed by April 15 and the return of contribution was made later.

@stevekayak   FYI -  Even if you install or reinstall  2018 or prior from a CD you will not be able to update the program or download any state programs you need.  So you might not be able to even open the .tax2018 tax file.  And since you can’t update the program your return might not be the same as you filed. For 2019 and going forward,  you will never be able to install and activate the 2019 or 2020 program with the License Code.   The License Code started in 2019.  So 2019 needs to connect to Turbo Tax to verify the License Code.  But they have stopped supporting 2019.  So don’t uninstall 2019 etc.  They only support the last 3 years.  Then this fall when 2025 comes out they will put 2024 in the past years section and discontinue 2021.

Regarding federal income tax: A private-duty nurse working in the patient's home is generally considered a household employee, not an independent contractor or self-employed. Your employer is the person you are caring for instead of the agency. If the patient pays you $2,800 or more in 2025 she must pay Social Security and Medicare taxes, and she can withhold your share of the Social Security and Medicare taxes from your pay, just like any other employer that you work for. She must also give you a W-2 at the end of the year. You would enter the W-2 in your tax return, the same as a W-2 from any other employer. You would not pay self-employment tax. The amount of tax that you would pay would be the same as if you earned the same amount at any other job where you get a W-2. Since you do not have to pay any additional tax as a household employee, it seems to me that a fair hourly rate would be the same amount that the agency would pay you for the same work. But that's just my opinion. I'm not an authority on compensation for nurses, and there may be other considerations that I am not aware of. As I said earlier, we can help you with your tax return, but we cannot advise you about your pay.
@VolvoGirl   Thanks for that....    being an **bleep** numbers guy, I'll probably keep my collection of TT cd's going strong at probably 30 by now!!

@omnipheasant   Glad you found a work-around.... got lucky there!! Make a copy of all the .pdf's and save the actual .tax2022 file for the next 7 years.  You can always reference the data within the tax return by looking at the .pdf files; the "all calculations" one has all of the worksheets that TT used to arrive at your actual number.  Save the .tax202x file, each year also, for obvious reasons, but that is only necessary if you have to do amendments by going into that year's TT.  Even then, the current TT may be able to help with amendments from a previous year....

From what I've read you still have to report it, but the IRS isn't aware of it until you do because Amazon won't report it if it's under $600. The numbers are easy to find on your account page or itemized report.   While I am not a tax pro at all, I highly recommend making it self employed income rather than hobby. Since Amazon doesn't grant us full ownership of the items for 6 months, because they restrict our usage of them for that period in their terms, by filing it as self employed you can adjust the value to reflect the actual value at 6 months (which is considerably less in most cases). It just takes a bit of prep work to review the year's list and value each item (or set a standard 10% garage sale rate and only value the ones that deviate up or down, many go to zero if they're consumed or trash).

Only you can submit your return.  Did you go all the way through the File tab, through the 3 steps and hit the big orange Transmit Returns Now button?   When you efile you get back 2 emails.  The first email only confirms the transmission.  The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.  And check your spam folder for them.   When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc.  What does it say?   How to check the efile status https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/electronic-filing/check-e-file-status/L9XhHDPtD_US_en_US
I am willing to pay online and absorb the penalty just to clear everything up; but am concerned that IRS also has my check. After I pay, somebody may "find" the "lost" check and cash it. Then what?
Turbo Tax informed that I can't use my Fed refund and e-file for state, so I changed the option to pay with credit card, but the fee is still there. I have logged in and out 2x, it's still there.

Social Security tax withheld from your pay, and shown in box 4 of your W-2, IS subject to federal income tax. You pay income tax on your gross pay (W-2 box 1), without subtracting Social Security tax (box 4) or Medicare tax (box 6). That's the way the tax rules work.
