To delete your Schedule C, there are some different options depending upon whether you operated the business in a previous tax year and need to indicate the business is no longer operating or if you entered it mistakenly. Steps to Remove a Schedule C Business:
Update Business Profile: Go to the "Business" tab, select "Update" next to your business, and under the business profile section, indicate that the business ceased operations.
Dispose of Assets: If you had assets, indicate they were sold or converted to personal use.
Delete the Form (If Necessary): If the form persists, go to Tax Tools > Tools > Delete a Form and remove the Schedule C.

No. A blank "type" field will not likely result in an audit. The IRS system is primarily matching the amounts reported on your return against the information they have received.
If the IRS is confused about a blank line, or want more information, they will send a request for clarification (Usually a CP2000 notice), rather than escalating to an audit.
In your situation, since you've already filed, the best approach is to maintain all of your documentation and wait. If the IRS needs more clarification, they will send you a letter.
At that time, you can reply with the explanation for your Excess 403b contributions.

You received an email that we cannot see that tells you why your tax return was rejected.
Some rejected returns can be fixed and re-filed. Some have “un-fixable” reasons for the rejection and have to be mailed instead.
What is the rejection code or rejection message?
If it was rejected for AGI—-your 2024 AGI might not be in the IRS system if you filed late. Try using zero instead.
If filing with zero is rejected then file again but select the option that you did not file last year. The IRS does not see that question and it will allow you to e-file with no AGI question.

If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.

If you were self-employed, any sales of the business practice would be reported on Schedule C Profit or Loss from Business (Sole Proprietorship).
If the sale was due to an exit of a business relationship in a Partnership or S-Corp, then those entities would be reporting you share of profits, losses, income items, asset sales, etc. on the Form K-1 they would issue you once they complete their business tax return.
The topic of business asset sales can be complicated, but handing your taxes off to a TurboTax expert can make this process much easier for you. Click here for more information on TurboTax Full Service. If you didn't fill with TurboTax Full Service last year, there is a limited time offer to file your return for $150, if you file by 3/18/26. Offer details are included in the link.

On a 1099-B I received, the trading fee dollar amount is not indicated on the form - just the proceeds amount. I do know the trading fee dollar amount. This particular 1099-B has two entries; one entry for long term shares shares not reported to the IRS (Box X) and long term shares reported (Box D) to the IRS. Turbo Tax Deluxe (Windows 11) interview asks if there were sales trading fees. Is it an acceptable practice to input the trading fees total dollar amount to either the Box X or the Box E entry only - or is it preferred that they be pro-rated and entered for both the Box X and Box D entry. The total trading fee amount was $27.

The home office deduction is available to qualified self-employed taxpayers. Does your 1099-MISC require you to report the income on a Schedule C for self-employed? If so, the home office deduction is found with other common business expenses in your business income and expense section of TurboTax.
Where do I enter the home office deduction for my business?
If you are self-employed, see the article below to determine if you qualify for the deduction.

Very frustrating! I initially couldn't e-file either. I kept deleting and re-adding the DE return, and it eventually worked. Filing by mail would have been much faster and easier.

Same here. I amended my return on 3/1 and print preview shows blank pages where the 1040-X should be. When is this bug going to be fixed?

And Form 1040-X. If the gains are taxable in 2025 (code P in box 7 of the 2026 Form 1099-R), the Form 1040-X will show the change in taxable income and the balance due.

If you do have an excess contribution then you need to remove the excess plus earnings by the due date to avoid the 6% penalty. Please make sure you request the withdrawal of excess contribution plus earnings with your financial institution. The earnings will be taxable in the year the contribution was made.
