I've paid Intuit to file my taxes and they've sent me 3 or 4 emails stating the problem is on their side and they "haven't forgotten about me" but here it is Tax Day and the issue was never resolved. So I submitted a request for a call back and the person called me, made me screen share and said "Bear with me...just a moment" and about 1 minute later the call dropped. The system is asking for an EIN while filing a 1099-NEC and the Payer only provided an SSN since I'm not employed by the payer. The form even shows "EIN_______ or SSN________" which was filled out correctly. So now what do I tell the IRS when I'm late filing?

So my water heater - which heats the water, and also heats the home is only one credit even though it is my "Furnace" and my Water Heater ? Seems illogical because the Tax Credit is an incentive , I could have purchased a Heat-pump for the Furnace - to use more electricity, and a Heat-pump Water heater to use more electricity .. and got the credit for both even though I would use more electricity. Hmmm.

I'm using Home & Business and it's giving me a home office expense carryover. It's only allowing a small portion of my calculated home office deduction. As far as I can tell, it should only be limited if the deduction causes a loss, but the business profit is orders of magnitude greater than the deduction. Any ideas?

Q. Aren’t these essentially the conditions of the Pell grant?
A. No. The IRS specifically references Pell Grants as eligible for the gimmick. . From the form 1040 instructions: “You may be able to increase an education credit if the student chooses to include all or part of a Pell grant or certain other scholarships or fellowships in income.
Q. Can I actually claim that a portion of the Pell grant that was realistically used to pay my tuition and fees is taxable, so that I can earn the AOTC?
A. Yes. At tax time, you are mostly free to allocate expenses for the best outcome. You did not have to literally paid certain expenses with particular funds You only had to have had expenses in the tax year that were somehow paid.

If you have already filled your return, and you need make a change to your original filing:
You must first wait until the initial return is completely processed.
You will have to use the same TurboTax account that you used for the original tax return.
Once you begin your amendment, you'll see your original return.
The refund calculator will start new at $0 and only reflect the changes in the refund or tax due
Only make changes to the areas of your return that need amending.
You have three years from the date you filed your return or two years after you paid the tax due (whichever is later) to file an amendment
For more information on amending a return and steps on how to amend your return, see the TurboTax help articles below:
