"I took distributions from a 401(k) and a 403(b) in order to satisfy RMD. These distributions were reported on the same 1099-R. "   It's improper for the payer to report on a single Form 1099-R distributions from different accounts.  Perhaps what you received is a single sheet on which is printed two separate Forms 1099-R, each of which must be entered into TurboTax separately.  If the sheet separately lists the gross amount distributed from each account, this suggests that you have received two Forms 1099-R printed on a single sheet.

@riadassi    Having a Schedule C does not prevent you from claiming the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion. The net self-employment income on Schedule C can be foreign earned income that is eligible for the exclusion. Did you go through the "Foreign Earned Income and Exclusion" topic in TurboTax after you completed the Schedule C? You have to go through that topic in order to exclude the foreign earned income. The exclusion will appear on Schedule 1 line 8d. Did you look at Schedule 1 to see if the exclusion is there? Are you using TurboTax Online or the desktop TurboTax software? Which edition are you using (Basic, Deluxe, etc.)?

@lewisronell    If you want to clear what might already be in your "online" 2024 tax file: 1)  Log into your tax file. 2) Continue it such that you are inside the tax interview somewhere. 3)  Use the left side Tools/Tax Tools menu to bring up a pop-up box that allows you to: 4)  select...."Clear and start over"    (you just won't start over) 5)  Exit the program.
I just updated the software and it still does not work.
Can you say what program you used? Getting super frustrated with turbo tax and would prefer a canadian product now.
@Er84-363047 Is this issue resolved for you? Were you able to Netfile?

I entered the Payer's TIN number into TurboTax when it asked for the Payer's EIN number. When I electronically submitted my Federal tax return for 2024, it was rejected. The return was rejected because it states that the EIN number that I entered doesn't match the IRS records. I checked the 1099-R and the number I entered, and they match. What should I do now?
Survey Monkey is a vendor, not a partner.

That is good to hear. But then maybe Intuit needs to have a little chat with the SurveyMonkey partner on what to push in people's faces.

The IRS automatically identifies taxpayers located in the covered disaster area and applies filing and payment relief. But affected taxpayers who reside or have a business located outside the covered disaster area should call the IRS Special Services toll-free number at 866-562-5227 to request this tax relief. Tax practitioners in the covered disaster area, who maintain records necessary to meet a filing or payment deadline for taxpayers located outside the disaster area, may contact the IRS Special Services; if the practitioner maintains the necessary records of ten or more clients, please refer to Bulk requests from practitioners for disaster relief for additional guidance.

@PatriciaV  Thanks, Patricia.  I'll have to digest what you said in detail, but it makes sense and explains it.   I am still a bit confused as to why just the Code A in Box 14 triggers that addition back, though, regardless of the amount (negative or positive) in box 14.   Thanks, bohicaIL
@srogers1 It is showing the price as a joint return that it will take 2 returns out of 12 returns you have. Please disregard this and continue. You should be good.

@Sonyat https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/refunds/help/why-is-my-direct-deposited-refund-or-check-lower-than-the-amount-in-turbotax/00/25594   There can be a number of reasons why your refund was less than the amount you expected. First of all, look carefully at your actual tax returns. Next——check the IRS refund site https://www.irs.gov/refunds to see what the IRS says they issued for your refund.  Sometimes the IRS reduces your refund. If the IRS reduced your refund they will send you a letter in several weeks.     There is sometimes confusion about the amount of refund to expect when users misinterpret the “summary” they saw in TurboTax. The amount of your refund is on your tax return.  Federal refund is on line 35a on Form 1040  State tax forms are all different so we cannot tell you what line to look at on your state form.  BUT it is important to actually LOOK at your tax return forms yourself and see the amounts of your tax refunds and/or tax due.  A lot of confusion would be avoided by doing that.   Be aware also that your Federal refund and state refund do NOT come together.  Federal and state tax returns are processed by two completely separate entities.  There is no rule as to which one will come first,   It is also possible that your state reduced your refund for debts owed in your state—if the state reduced your state refund you will receive a letter from the state.   Did you choose to have TT fees deducted from your Federal refund?  (Remember that if you did that, you also agreed to an extra refund processing fee of $40 or $45  in CA)   How can I see my TurboTax  fees?   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/intuit-account-billing/review-fees-turbotax-online/L1XnIzgzg_US_en_US?uid=m682vq7k      refund offset.       https://www.irs.gov/uac/tax-refund-offsets-pay-unpaid-debts  IRS Treasury Offset Program Call Center at 1-800-304-3107  https://www.irs.gov/uac/tax-refund-offsets-pay-unpaid-debts   https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/refunds/help/what-is-a-refund-offset/00/26301   Reduced Refund      https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc203      NOTE: You can contact the IRS Treasury Offset Program Call Center at 1-800-304-3107 to ask if they have an offset for you on file. TurboTax would not have that information.   https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tips/tax-payments/who-can-garnish-an-income-tax-refund/L7cPPzDyc
Everything was there. Must be a glitch in the MI software module. Will amend manually and let TurboTax know.
