I'm in the same boat.  I chose the option to do my own taxes this year.  The first screen was telling me that it was retrieving last year's information.  The second screen was prompting me to agree to use expert help and there was no way around the screen to opt out.  How do I clear my tax return when I haven't even gotten far enough to even have a return?
How close is the fix? the deadline to file is fast approching

You cannot change the tax year.   The current online program is for 2024 only.   Only a 2024 return can be prepared online and only a 2024 return can be e-filed.   Online preparation and e-filing for 2021, 2022, and  2023 is permanently closed. Note:  The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac.  It cannot be used on a mobile device.   To file a return for a prior tax year  If you need to prepare a return for 2021, 2022, or 2023  you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign,  and mail the return(s) https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/ You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.   Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/state-taxes/contact-state-department-revenue/L9qVToi02_US_en_US?uid=m6e06um0   When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.   Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
You can do as you suggest. If you paid the remaining capital account balance it wouldn't be taxable since it would likely just be a return of your original investment.

I had to amend my taxes twice and on the first amend I owed $1,600 and the second amend I owe nothing and am getting a return of $900. The IRS still took the $1,600 out of my bank account today leaving me over a thousand dollars in the negative. The bank isn't sure if they can stop the payment from completing and the line everyone has told me to call will not transfer me to talk to an actual person. How am I supposed to figure out how to get my money back when I now owe absolutely nothing?

Will I lose all inputs I've done if I do as you suggest?
If you are a W-2 wage employee then none of your employee business expenses are deductible on a federal tax return due to the tax code changes in effect for tax years 2018 thru 2025.

1 No you have to amend 2023 to add 200 of income on Line 4b   2 It is the way of the Tax Code. you pay 6% penalty on your 2023 tax return. and it carries forward to  2024. You have til April 15 (Oct 15 if you request an extension) to distribute exactly the new excess or offset it with an allowed conribution for 2024 , reducing the amount you can put in for 2024, earnings on the new excess stay in the Roth because you missed the 2024 Tax Day deadline. @pbartoli  best to do the distribution before filing 2024.

Have you used TurboTax Online Version or TurboTax Desktop Version? You can make changes to a filed tax return by filing a T1-adjustment. The CRA requires that you wait until you’ve received your Notice of Assessment (NOA) before filing an adjustment.  In many cases, the CRA will catch the mismatch and automatically adjust your return for you. For step-by-step instructions, please follow this TurboTax article:  I've filed my tax return. Can I still make changes?   Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

The dollar totals are just used for a comparison basis.  I'm not sure why they wouldn't be popping up for you but they are not necessary to do the return.   @Starrlynne

My GOAL contributions are deducted from my paycheck (and goes straight to the school)  so on my W-2 it doesn't look like I've been paying the state enough. In fact, I owe the state money. Do I need to add my contribution back in somewhere to show that it was actually paid?
