Hello. . . Curious if this is still an issue in 2025 when e-filing for 2024 taxes. It seems to be. Once again, I opted for Direct Debit, and once again, I was told later to print a voucher and send it in with payment. I am not planning on doing that, as last year, it seemed a lot of people ended up paying twice---and I had no issues with the direct debit option last year (and ignored the waiver). Hopefully still true?

Are you filing a Part-Year Indiana return?
Do you have the screen asking for the residency dates?
If you are using Desktop, can you look at the Indiana return to see if there is a county on Form IT-40PNR or county tax on line 19
HERE is how to look at your returns using Online but you will only see a summary for Indiana, look for county tax on that summary

What do you mean by "AP"? Does that mean an APO address (Army Post Office)? If so, on your mailing address screen in the My Info (Personal Info) section, in the first box you have to choose the "Type" of mailing address from a dropdown menu. You can choose Military (APO, FPO, DPO). Then the screen reconfigures with different boxes. In a box lower down it asks you indicate whether it is APO or FPO or DPO from a dropdown menu. Once you make that indication, then a box called "state code" has a dropdown menu that shows 3 choices for the various military post offices.

Similar to previous recorded issues this one throws the "We need to make one more check" when the final "transmit" is clicked and dumps me into a 1099-G form. This was for a stint of state paid medical leave and the perceived error is that more than half the amount of compensation was taken out in taxes. The words say "please verify" but there's nothing to be done, it's actually correct and TT can't resolve it, driving a Transmit loop. I could probably jam it up one way or another but then it would be wrong. Any ideas or workarounds?

Yes, you can file a return through TurboTax without opting for Live Assistance. It sounds like you might have inadvertently selected the Live Assistance option. Here's how you can proceed without it:
Option #1 - Remove Live Assistance:
Open Your Return: If you haven't already, open your tax return in TurboTax.
Switch Products: In the left menu, select "Switch Products."
Select Downgrade: Choose the "Downgrade" option
Option #2 -You can also clear and start over to switch to a different product. This option erases your information to give you a fresh start in the new product you've chosen.

Hello, My Dad passed in 2024 and was not able to take his Traditional IRA RMD. My Mom was the sole Beneficiary. She had his account closed and did a Trustee-to-Trustee Transfer of all funds to a credit union where she opened up a new Traditional IRA with her name on it. From there, she took my Dad’s final RMD and she received a Form 1099-R showing only her name on it, the Gross Distribution Amount, as well as the Federal Income Tax she had withheld. The Code in Box 7 is “7.” I imported her 1099 into TT and the “Form 1099-R, withdrawal of money from 401(k) retirement plans, pensions, IRA’s etc.” button is clicked and it shows that the 1099 belongs to my Mom. Should I choose “NO” for the question, “Did (Mom’s name) Inherit the IRA from (Credit Union Name)? If “No” is the correct answer, I also need help with their IRA Basis. Do I combine my Dad’s 2023 Basis with my Mom’s 2023 Basis and put the total dollar amount under my Mom’s “Total Basis as of December 31, 2023”? Or do I only enter my Mom’s 2023 Basis and put my Dad’s elsewhere? Thank you so much for any help someone can provide me.

50% of line 5(e) on the 941 form would equal the employer share of social security and Medicare tax. To that you would have to add the federal unemployment tax as listed on line 12 of form 940 and also the state unemployment tax off of your state unemployment tax returns to get your payroll tax amount.
