Using the step-by-step screens for the Michigan return, you should have seen a screen titled Annualizing Your Income if you had an underpayment penalty. You may have not seen this screen if you elected to have Michigan bill you, rather than calculating the penalty with TurboTax.    Likewise, you would have encountered a screen in the federal step-by-step to review your underpayment penalty. Once you elect to review your underpayment penalty, the screens will populate.    @DR8539

Sorry---theft losses are not deductible on your tax return.   Only losses as the result of a Ponzi scheme can be entered.

Yes, the scenario you described sounds like it would qualify for the financial emergency exception. The IRS defines “emergency personal expense" as an unforeseeable or immediate financial need relating to necessary personal or family emergency expenses (Section 115 of the Secure 2.0 Act), which is limited to $1,000 per year.   To report the withdrawal, here's how to do this in TurboTax Online:   Navigate to Federal > Wages & Income > IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R) Add/Edit Your withdrawal will be shown in a summary on a screen that says "Here's your 1099-R info" Choose "Continue" Continue through the interview until you arrive at a screen that says "Did you use your IRA to pay for any of these expenses?" If you qualified for an exception to the penalty, enter the information here.    Here is an article you may find helpful: Can I make a hardship withdrawal from my 401(k)?

Did you e-file?  Did you click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”     When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say that your return was submitted.  The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected.  If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.   First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/ If the IRS accepted it, what does it say here?   https://www.irs.gov/refunds            Or does your account say “Ready to Mail?” Or “Rejected?” Or “Printed?”
That's not correct. I originally paid for Home & Business. Then, while I was using it, it required me to upgrade to Home & Business to use the features of Home & Business.
